Chapter 8
~~~~~~~
Shoving my way out of the headquarters, I allow myself to get lost in the forestry tunnels where nobody will find me.
I can't believe these people. Dead red wings are treated like brothers but an alive one who wants to help is unjust. I'm on their side! If I wouldn't have done what I did, they'd be dead.
I find a rock and throw it up against one of the supporting branches while cursing loudly.
"Told you." A mocking voice calls from behind.
I turn around and see Ace standing there with smug look plastered on his face.
The rock I threw is in mid-air.
"I'm not in the mood." I tell him bitterly.
"We're allies whether you like it or not. The same thing happened to me. They ruin this for themselves. Wanna know the truth about my death?"
"Not really."
Ace rolls his eye at me and flicks his wrist. My mouth goes cold again but I don't flick him off this time.
"They banished me from the temple. That was the only place I could meet the spirits to train me because the red winged temple is with those bastards. You know what happens when the spirits stop visiting you?"
In his humor, he asks me this and pauses as if waiting for an answer. I suppress a sigh and shake my head.
"It means kiss your dreams of awakening goodbye. And when you don't awaken, you get killed by a bunch of red wings before you can even reach the king." He fumes at his own words.
I understand his rule of not trusting. The black wings ruined his own fate so he couldn't even properly defend himself.
"My brother is an idiot. He's the unifier but he didn't accept the invitation to rule! He's the one making sure that we consider the red wings our brothers! The worst part is that he's considered a hunter even though he hasn't killed shit!" Ace continues to rant.
The pieces of the puzzle connect. Calls them brothers, hunter, unifier who doesn't believe in killing.
Hern. Ace and Hern are brothers.
Quickly I nod my head in agreement at his statement causing Ace to let a smile creep through his toughened face.
"Of course you understand. I'll help you as best I can with your awakening because nobody else is going to help you. With the whole oracle thing I'm not entirely postive on what to exactly do."
I raise my cut eyebrow at him. I have yet to learn about oracles or to what they hold with my fate. Ace catches my expression of being perplexed.
"I just get to explain everything to you don't I? Just fucking great. Listen carefully, there are two oracles, a red winged one and a black winged one. They are the motral sages and will bless the saviors as they are dying, to allow them to awaken. These black winged assholes didn't bother to let me train so I couldn't get to the red winged oracle before I died." He explains, obivously enraged.
So Junior gets to witness someone dying to awaken as the unifer. I'm sure he'll handle that as well as the time he killed a squrriel with my knife.
He gathers berries for a reason.
Ace gives me a sudden goodbye and fades away even though questions form in my mouth and almost escape.
This whole situation actually sets fear inside me. What if I can't awaken? How am I going to break the news to Junior that I may die from the black wing's ignorance?
