Myrcella silently cursed to herself but she couldn't stand there and listen to Maryse walk over her sister and newly found best friend, Isabelle.
"Alec, you stay with the Fairchild girls. I want them both under your watch." Maryse ordered after taking a deep breath. "I want them both under control. One caused enough trouble already. I would like to hear about how the other one is alive later." She added as she shot a look at Myrcella.
Myrcella was fuming because of the elder Lightwood's tone and the way she talked about her and her sister, and thankfully Jace realized this so he took a protective step in front of the girl to stop her if she were to lose her temper. The blond Shadowhunter still felt grateful to Myrcella as she saved his life.
"The Clave counts on us Lightwoods to maintain order here." Maryse continued much to Myrcella's dismay. The two Fairchild girls looked at each other and rolled their eyes.
"You don't need to tell me that." Alec spoke up with determination laced in his voice. "If the mission is important to the Clave, I would prefer to be the one who goes with Isabelle." He added making his mother give a mocking chuckle.
"You're all so eager to do what you would prefer. It's time to face the truth. Life is not about what you want to do, it's about what must be done." She replied giving harsh glares to everyone, her gaze lingering on Myrcella for a second longer. "I have given you your assignments now carry them out. You and you, with me, now." She gave her final order and left, Jace and Isabelle quietly following her.
Myrcella turned to look at Alec, who had an expressionless face. She didn't know how she'd feel if her mother was that strict but she didn't know what her mother was like anyways. At least, she couldn't remember much.
"Well, that was a window into the weird." Her sister spoke up to diffuse the awkward silence. Myrcella poked her sister's side with her elbow, looking at Alec, not knowing how he'd react. Clary shot her sister a look, clearly not able to read social situations and continued. "What did you do to piss off your mom?" She asked which earned her a second, much harder poke in the side.
"I'd guess, for a start all the unsanctioned missions on your behalf didn't go over that big with the Clave." Alec replied with a glare and left.
"Oh Clary, why?" Myrcella groaned, knowing it would take her too long to get Alec to open up again.
"What did I do?" The younger sibling asked curiously. Myrcella just flicked her forehead in response. "Ow, why did you do that?" Clary asked rubbing the spot she hit.
"Clary, use your brain, please. Did you really have to piss off Alec? We already have to deal with his mother." Myrcella sighed and took a hold of Clary's arm. "Now, walk with me sister." She smiled and led them to Clary's bedroom.
"I know you're Valentine's daughter as well." Clary stated after shutting the door causing Myrcella to choke on air.
"Well please say it louder." Myrcella whisper yelled and opened the door to look out if there was any bypassers. After seeing it was all clear, she shut the door and faced her sister. "How? Did our mom t-" She was cut by her sister.
