"What?! No!"
"No way." Clary and Jace exclaimed at the same time knowing it wasn't an option.
"Why? I get to protect my family, the people I love and all of the Downworld. It seems like the best option." Myrcella shrugged as if she was suggesting she should walk down the beach not destroy the Soul Sword with herself.
"Cupcake..." Magnus spoke up looking at her with an unreadable look.
"Mag, if that Sword is activated...I'll loose you. And if it isn't destroyed, the Downworld will be coming after my sister. I have to do this. There is no positive outcome in this. And I for sure as hell am not gonna let Jace do it either." The half warlock explained herself, pointing at Jace in the end.
"Why?" Jace asked knowing she didn't have to sacrifice herself.
"Because I'm older. It's my job to protect you two." Myrcella faced Jace and Clary with a determined look and a small smile. "That's what mom would have wanted." She whispered the last part, mostly to herself but she actually thought this was her way of redeeming herself. The three exchanged looks that were a mix of worry and sadness.
"How about no one touches the Sword?" Magnus spoke up with a raised hand.
"And what? Let Valentine have it?" Myrcella asked her best friend.
"Let me go save Simon. Look, I'm not gonna touch the Sword. I'll just get to it before it's activated and bring the Mortal Instrument back to the Clave where it belongs. Trust me." Jace suggested thinking it was the best option.
"Look, you can't just waltz in there. We need a plan." Myrcella replied and sat down rubbing her temples.
"Myrcella's right. We need to think this through." Luke agreed and joined the half warlock.
"We know that Valentine wants Clary, so we give him just that." Jace announced with one his signature smirks.
"A glamour?" Myrcella asked with a smile. "That can actually work." She admitted looking at her sister.
"I'll do it." Jace and Myrcella said at the same time.
"No, Myrcella let me do this." Jace put up his hand when Myrcella opened her mouth. "I need you to find Alec." He added and Myrcella bit her lip looking between her sister and Jace. After contemplating the idea for a minute, she curtly nodded.
"Clary, I need you to stay here with Magnus." Myrcella went to her sister's side. "I promise you we'll bring back Simon in one piece, but please." She pleaded, knowing she wouldn't be able to fight with a clear mind if she didn't know her sister was safe.
"Okay but you need to promise to come back. You too Jace." Clary said with tears in her eyes.
"I promise sis." Myrcella replied and was pulled in a hug by her sister. They pulled apart so Clary could talk to Jace. "I'm only leaving because I know she'll be safest here with you. Don't let her do anything rash." She said to Magnus with a smile.
"Don't worry, I know how to handle a feisty Fairchild." Magnus replied with a smile to lighten the mood. "I don't like this, Cupcake." His smile quickly turned into a frown as he wrapped his arms around the girl.
"It will be alright Mag. But if anything happens to me-" She said making Magnus pull back.
"Don't." Magnus frowned, not wanting her to think of the worst.
"No Mag, if anything happens tonight, I need you to promise me to take care of Clary." She kept her voice low so the others wouldn't hear her. "I need you to promise to take care of yourself. I can't go out there without knowing this." She added, putting a hand on Magnus' cheek.
