The next day arrived faster than Myrcella wanted because she wasn't ready to face the wrath of a certain Lightwood mother. She had spent the night trying to come up with a menu for the Rune Ceremony, while Magnus dealt with the rest. Alec had called to let them know his mother had approved but couldn't come over as Max needed him. She hadn't heard anything from her sister as well after checking up on her to see if she was alive and well. Myrcella grabbed a cup of coffee and went out to the terrace to ease her mind.
"Jace, hey." She greeted the blond Shadowhunter who had various books in front of him, looking like he was on the verge of pulling his hair out.
"Myrcella!" Jace exclaimed in shock as he did his best to flip all the pages he was looking at.
"Well that wasn't subtle at all..." Myrcella cocked an eyebrow at him as she sat on the seat across from him.
"It's nothing." He lied to her and Myrcella knew no matter what she said he wouldn't tell her the truth unless he wanted to. "Anyways I hear you and Magnus are having Max's Rune Ceremony here." He added to change the topic.
"Yeah, we barely slept trying to decide on how to make it perfect." The half warlock groaned taking a sip of her coffee.
"I'm sure it will be great." Jace said with a smile as he scribbled something on the notepad he had on his knee. After couple of minutes of comfortable silence, Jace spoke again. "So, you and Alec are official now? I mean you two did take the next step." He stated with a smirk, knowing he had to talk about their relationship.
"Wait, he told you?" Myrcella asked with wide eyes, forgetting he and Alec were brothers, best friends, Parabatais.
"No he didn't have to. We're parabatai." Jace explained as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Not having her parabatai, Myrcella didn't know what he meant so she started freaking out creating horrible scenarios in her mind. "No. No, no, no. Ew, no, it's not like that." Jace shook his head after seeing the look on the girl's face. "It's...I can, uh...I can just...I can sense that he's happier." He explained himself, which switched the look of horror on Myrcella's face to an embarrassed one.
"Really?" She asked with a quiet voice, feeling heat rush to her cheeks.
"Yeah, you're good for him." Jace noted, glad Alec found himself someone like Myrcella.
Someone he came to find out was selfless and protected those she cared about before herself. However, their moment was abruptly interrupted by couple of cats meowing and jumping on the sofa next to Jace. They knew better than to approach Myrcella but a new one she hadn't seen before started purring alongside her legs.
"Magnus!" She yelled, gathering her legs up to the seat. Jace looked as uncomfortable as Myrcella being suddenly surrounded by cats.
"Salut, mon petit chat. You're new, aren't you?" Magnus came out to the terrace and took the one that Myrcella tried to avoid in his hands. With a flick, couple bowls of milk appeared on the other side and he let go of the one he was holding.
