"How many times can I say I'm sorry? I know I stepped our of line, but I really don't have time to be your valet." Ruby expressed, nearly whining as he dragged around a basket full of 40's, chips and dip, candy bars, and more with his tired, limp arm. As a punishment for earlier, Spooky forced the younger boy to come with him while he ran pointless errands, making Ruby do anything he didn't feel like doing himself. It was nothing too crazy, but after almost three hours of being dragged to smoke shops, grocery stores, and different post offices to make "deliveries", Ruby had enough of being Spooky's personal assistant. Not only did it literally feel like death outside, but Spooky didn't even have the decency to feed him, and he didn't know how much longer he could go on an empty stomach.

Spooky ignored Ruby's whining, dropping a six pack into the large basket and walking ahead of the tired boy, who was dragging behind him. "We need to grab a few nopales." he said, letting the cooler door slam as he turned back around.

Ruby sighed. "We need a cart, this is getting heavy."

With a head shake, slight smirk, and raised eyebrow, the taller man turned his head just enough to where he could see the adolescent boy. "Do you ever not complain?"

Ruby popped out from behind Spooky, who was so much taller compared to him, that he blocked his whole view of everything. Like a shadow. "Well no one told you to bring me." he shot back, his tone smart and defensive.

Deciding against saying anything back, Spooky just nodded his head with a smirk. He was getting used to dealing with Ruby's smart mouth, and although he badly wanted to do something about it and put him in his place once and for all, he was able to handle it for the time being. "So what else don't you like about me?" he changed the subject, the question in reference to Ruby's little rant about him just hours before.

"Oh no," Ruby shook his head and looked down. "I'm not falling for that."

"It's not a debate. What else don't you like?" Spooky asked again, trying not to sound too interested in Ruby's opinion. He didn't wanna give off the impression of him actually caring, because he usually didn't, but oddly enough, he found himself intrigued by what Ruby might say next. If anyone's opinion mattered, it was his.

"Your gang. You guys call yourself "the Santos", the saints, but all you do is hurt people, me, for example. Not to mention my friend is dead, so what's the point of you really?" Ruby followed behind Spooky, who listened closely and threw more random items into the basket, his anger rising higher and higher the more Ruby spoke. Meanwhile, Ruby continued to express how he felt towards Spooky, only to be cut off shortly after.

Spooky turned around abruptly, no longer able to control his anger. It was obvious that the teens words were starting to get to him. "You comin' at me," he started, voice loud and thunderous. "but I didn't start this war." him and Ruby were now face to face, the taller man towering over his small frame. Ruby didn't back down though, he held his ground.

"Says the complicit one." Ruby shot back, eyes burning into Spooky's.

Spooky bared his teeth, his facial expression getting harder. He scoffed, eying the young boy up and down as he began to slowly walk towards him. "You sure got a lot to say about something that you don't even know anything about, Chico."

"Teach me then."

"Teach you?" Spooky asked with a raised eyebrow. He was more than caught off guard. Although this sound very sexual, he was almost sure the fifteen year old didn't mean it like that, but that didn't stop his mind from going there. The older man couldn't help but to think about all the positions he could do him in, but eventually stopped and scolded himself for thinking about his little brothers fifteen year old best friend in that way, disgusted with his unholy thoughts, but turned on at the same time.

"That's what I said, isn't it? Teach me, Spooky."

Spooky only nodded, taking note of the boy's attitude in his head. It was just four o'clock, and there was still things that needed to done. He was gonna let Ruby finally go home, but after the way he's been acting, he deserved to be punished a while longer. "You like history?"

Ruby smirked. "Just so happens to be my favorite subject."

The two stood in the middle of the isle, not a word further exchanged between them as Spooky bored into him. Ruby slowly but surely turning back into his old, timid self the longer he held the mans stare, taking a step back each time Spooky took one forward. "Back in the day, the Prophets terrorized Freeridge, didn't matter who you were. You were a target. They went to the cops, but you know how that goes. You think Freeridge is bad now?" Spooky scoffed, a chuckle escaping his throat. "try living here thirty years ago. It was so bad that no one even wanted to go outside, until Lil' Ricky said 'No más'. He started the Santos to protect the hood-"

"Great, so then you had two groups terrorizing the neighborhood." Ruby added, almost as if he was purposely trying to provoke Spooky.

Wiping the spit the accidentally flew out of Ruby's mouth and onto his face, Spooky leaned in until he was just inches away from the high school students face, the both of them now at the same level. "Terrorizing?" Spooky leaned in closer and reached around Ruby to grab some candy, never taking his eyes off of him. Ruby gulped and leaned back, eyes wide eyes and watching Spooky's every move as he shook with fear. "you mean protecting." and with that, he walked away and towards the counter.

"It's complicated. The Santos are a family, families are complicated." Spooky continued.

"What do you know about family?" Ruby challenged. "you threw your own brother out!" he spat, getting louder.

"I said it's complicated!" Spooky snapped. "and I didn't make that call. You think this is what I wanted?! Cause it wasn't-"

"I don't care who made the stupid call! Cesar is family-"

"Ruby-"

"No, you're going to listen to me!" Ruby demanded. Spooky's eyebrow raised, eying him up and down. He couldn't help but to be amused, and it was taking everything in him to not smirk or say something slick. With a deep sigh, Ruby continued. "look...all I'm saying is, if you're a saint, then save people. Don't kill 'em. And as far as Cesar, let him come home. You're all he's got besides me, Monse, and Jamal, and we can't take care of him like you can." Spooky didn't say anything in response. Truth his, he didn't have one, so he pondered on what Ruby said. He'd never admit it, but Ruby was right, and his words got to him a lot.

Silently putting his pride to the side, he gave a solid head nod, laying the conversation to rest. "Alright well, let's get somethin' to eat and get you home, compa."
