Prologue
"Yohannie! This is such a nice place! I can barely see any clouds and the stars are shining brightly. I wanna look at them all night, it's so lovely!" Keira, outspoke. She lifted her head up and continued admiring the beauty of the night sky.
"Indeed. Lovely. Just as lovely." Keira's attention was caught when she heard what her friend said. She gave him a look straight in his eyes and did not mutter a single word.
Her heart raced when their eyes persistently locked up with each other and she felt as if she can see directly through his soul. Yet, she remained still and did her best to conceal whatever feeling she has as of the moment.
"Ah.. Today's draining, right?" Yohan whispered as he laid his head on Keira's thigh using it as his pillow. She was surprised and her heart continued racing.
Yohan closed his eyes while she took the time to stare and admire his angelic face. She can't help but grow fonder of what she feels for him. His high bridged nose, single eyelids, quite thick lips, well defined face shape and his hairstyle that definitely suits him.
I might not be lucky enough to be the girl you would want to spend your life, but at least I'm lucky enough to have you as my best friend. In that way, I know for sure that we'll be in each other's side forever. And I'll never let us fall apart. I promise.
She thought.
"Got you. Quit staring- and hey, don't marry me on your thoughts just yet. We're out of each other's league you know!" He said teasingly as he laugh out loud.
"Dream on, Yohan! I wouldn't want to marry you either!"
"Yes, I was dreaming on. And I don't know.. I just felt like I already found my dream." Yohan supposed and he once again looked straight into her eyes.
Silence ruled all over the place as if there is a thick cloud of tension in between the both of them whilst their hearts are racing with each other.
Why is it suddenly silent? And why on earth is my heart beating this fast, what is this?
Yohan shook his head and tried to wobble his thoughts out. He shouldn't be thinking about this.
"Look at the stars. Look at how they seem so close but.. but why can't I reach them? Why does it seem so impossible? Why are they out of my extent? Do I have to be a star by myself for me to hold yo-- them?"
He quickly got up when he saw a tear escaping the eyes of his friend. He grabbed his handkerchief and wiped her cheeks wherein her tears are continuously flowing.
"No, Kei. You're wrong. You don't have to be a star just to tame the distance between you and them. That's why there are shooting stars. Sometimes, stars will fall for you too.."
"Is that so?"
Yohan nodded and heaved a bright smile to his friend. He knew how his smile brightens her up. He used to do this everyday especially when her days are not going so well.
"How about you? When will you ever go down?"
He felt a cold shiver down his body as he heard the last words that came out of her mouth. He was least expecting those so he tried to not put any meaning into it.
"Keira.."
