Chapter 10: Caught Up

[hears a knock at the door]

Lai: [gets up to answer the door] Tray? What are you doing here?

Tray: [putting his hands up] I swear, I did not come here to cause any trouble. I just came here to check on you and make sure you're okay. 

Lai: [opening the door more letting him in] It's okay Tray. Come on in. You're taking a big risk knowing you're not supposed to be anywhere near me. 

Tray: [slowing walks in shutting the door behind him] I know, I know. It's worth the risk. How are you Lai? How's the baby?

Lai: I'm miserable Tray. I feel so empty without him. The baby is doing well. He is kicking the fuck outta me every night. 

Tray: I can only imagine how you feel Lai. I feel terrible too, but I know you feel 10 times worse. I'm glad baby boy is doing well. He's just letting you know, you're not alone. A baby can sense things even while in the womb. 

Lai: Yeahhhh, I know. [rubbing her belly] How are you Tray? How is everything coming along?

Tray: I'm okay. Everything is coming together little by little. 

Lai: That's good. Sooooo, did you work things out with that..."you know who".

Tray: [laughing] Something like that. 

Lai: So, since you're here, I might as well tell you that the police came to the conclusion that there was foul play that led to Chris's car accident. 

Tray: What?! Really?! So, someone tried to murder my brother?

Lai: Yes. They're trying to figure out what exactly caused it. They're supposed to come over to give me an update later on today. 

Tray: Well keep me posted. Looks like I'll have to bring out the old Tray. 

Lai: Tuhhhhhhh. Who ever did it just doesn't know they fucked with the wrong family.

Tray: Damn right. I can't wait to get my hands on who did it. 

Lai: You're not the only one.

Tray: [laughing] You're about it, pregnant and all huh?

Lai: You already know. 

Tray: Yeahhhh. I know you can handle your own. You fight just like a straight up nigga. 

Lai: [laughing] Oh whatever niggaaaaa!

Tray: [smiling] For real.

Lai: Yeah okay Tray. [laughing]

Tray: Hmm. Well, it was nice catching up with you. I just had to make sure you and baby boy were okay. I'm about to head out.

Lai: Same here Tray. I appreciate it. See you later. [opening the door]

Tray: Fa shoooo. Call me if you need me. 

Lai: Alright Tray. [closing the door]

Later On That Day

[hears knocking at the door]

Lai: [wobbles downstairs to answer the door] Hello Officers.

Officer #1: Hello Ms. Bev, I'm Officer Jones. [shaking her hand] and this is Officer Daniels.

Officer #2: Hello Ms. Bev. [shaking her hand]

Officer Jones: So, we have an update for you. After investigating the crime scene and sending the car in for examination, they found out what caused the accident. Someone tampered with your fiance's car and cut his brake lines, which caused him to not be able to stop and lose control of the car.
