Chapter 30: Duet and Do It

~Grant~

I've never seen Ollie so mad at his dad before. It has been a few days since August told Ollie the truth about his mother and ever since then, Ollie refused to talk to August. He hasn't said a single word to him at all.

I got where Ollie was coming from but at the same time, it was hard seeing him so mad at his dad. They had always been so close and to see Ollie ignore his dad for the longest of time? I didn't like it.

I tried talking to Ollie about it but he didn't want to. He refused to. Every time I brought it up, he was quick to change the subject. He never wanted to talk about it. He didn't even want to talk about Cyndi when she didn't know that August was going to keep it a secret.

For now, I had to drop it because there was no way Ollie was going to suddenly be fine with talking about it. Not only that but tonight was the seventh round of Sing Loud and Proud. After today, there were going to be eight contestants left from the original twenty-five.

The best part of me and Alison doing a duet together was that no matter what, we were in this together. Either we were going home together or we were moving on together, and we were determined to make sure we moved on together. Of course, we both wanted to win but our goal was that we would at least make it to the top five together.

The top five of Sing Loud and Proud was a huge accomplishment. They always got a bunch of benefits from making it to the top five; interviews, trips, free passes for things. There were a few weeks between round nine and the final round so a lot happened for the top five in between.

Being in the greenroom right now was making me very excited, and a bit anxious, for this round to begin. Alison and I had so much fun rehearsing our duet and performing it in front of all these people was going to be an amazing experience.

       I couldn't wait.

Unfortunately, Alison and I teaming up only made Vivienne more certain that we, for some reason, were pretending we were dating for view and votes. I didn't get it. For starters, who would vote for someone just because they were dating someone else. Weren't people going to vote for who they thought was the most talented?

Not only that but why was it so hard to believe that Alison and I were just friends? There was nothing wrong with guys and girls being friends. Sure, most people are attracted to the opposite sex but that did not mean they were attracted to every single member of the opposite sex.

Take me, for example. I was pansexual and it wasn't like I was attracted to every single person.

At least next week would clear up any confusion since I was going to be singing about a guy.

That was if Alison and I made it to the next round but I was confident that we would. We rehearsed a lot, even back in Spruceworth since she was officially staying at the hotel there.

Alison and I were the last performance of the night so we had the opportunity to watch everyone else to see what we were up against. The judges were the ones who matched everyone with a partner that they felt would work well for a duet and let me tell you, all their decisions were perfect.

Every single duo worked extremely well together. They didn't try to overpower each other. They didn't have one person singing more. They didn't have one person singing quieter.

This was going to be a tough round.

When it was my and Alison's turn, we walked onto the stage and the judges immediately greeted us. I have to say, now that I watched all the other performances, I was a lot more nervous. Alison and I were the only duet that wasn't chosen by the judges. What if they think that we didn't work well together?
