Chapter 16: Rehab
~Grant~
"Is there anything you want?" I asked Ollie.
"No, I'm good," Ollie said. "I'm not that hungry."
"You don't have to get food," I said. "You can get a drink or something."
Ollie shook his head, leaning back in the passenger seat. "No, I'm fine. I don't want anything."
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Grant, I'm sure. I don't want anything to eat or drink, alright?"
I normally would question Ollie's attitude but I already knew it was because of his withdrawal. However, his symptoms should have been decreasing even by a tiny bit by now. They weren't. He couldn't sleep, he was irritable, he was barely hungry.
All I wanted was for him to get better and he just wasn't.
Even though Ollie said he didn't want to eat or drink anything, I got him a medium ginger ale from the drive-through. Even after I ordered the food, he kept telling me he didn't want anything but I didn't want him to not drink something.
After we got the food and drinks, I continued the drive to the venue for today's Sing Loud and Proud rehearsal. I was hoping Ollie would enjoy the trip to Vancouver since he was getting out of Spruceworth for a bit. Even though he came here whenever I had a performance, he didn't really get to spend time in the city. It was just to come to the filming and then to head back to Spruceworth.
I knew he really loved living there but I hope getting out of there for a few hours might help him out a bit.
When we got to the venue, I got out of the car and went to the passenger side to help Ollie get out. He wasn't really happy with my gesture. "I could get out of the car myself," he muttered.
"I'm just trying to help," I said.
"I don't need any help," Ollie said. He was about to walk to the entrance of the venue but I stopped him by gently grabbing his arm.
"Ollie, don't shut me out," I said. "You did so well talking to me last night about how you're feeling. I don't want to take a step backwards and feel like you can't talk to me about anything."
Ollie was silent for a bit, looking at the ground. Something happened. I didn't know exactly what but something did happen between my and Ollie's talk at two in the morning to now. He wouldn't shut me out like this after we just had a long talk.
"Ollie?" I asked when he hadn't said anything yet.
Ollie sighed. "We'll talk after your rehearsal."
"We have time to talk now," I said.
"But I don't want to distract you from your rehearsal," Ollie said.
"You won't," I said.
Ollie hesitated. "I still want to talk after your rehearsal."
"Okay..." I said slowly. "You're... You're not calling off the wedding, are you?"
"What?" Ollie asked. "No, of course not. I want to marry you, Grant. And I'm going to marry you. What I want to talk to you about doesn't have anything to do with our relationship, okay? It's just..." He sighed. "Like I said, it's best to talk to you after. But I do love you, Grant. Nothing is going to change that."
