Chapter 46: Reunite
~Grant~
All the volunteers for the high school reunion had to be there early to help set up for it. Ollie wasn't sure if his dad would appreciate the fact that the two of us were volunteering because knowing August, he would immediately assume we were up to something.
He just couldn't trust us at all, thinking we couldn't volunteer out of the goodness of our hearts.
I mean, we totally weren't doing it out of the goodness of our hearts and we totally were up to something but August didn't know that. Yet.
Ollie was always telling me that I wasn't exactly subtle so it probably wouldn't take long for August to figure out what we were up to.
As us volunteers were setting up for the high school reunion, I was starting to get very bored having to decorate this place. I was starting to regret this plan. I didn't know it would take so much work and effort from me. I was just hoping all I had to do was bug August.
Uh, I mean help him realize he was better when he was with his soulmate.
Totally what I meant.
Ollie didn't seem to mind setting up the gymnasium for the high school reunion. In fact, he was doing a lot of the decorating while I was doing the most important thing.
Relaxing.
"Aren't you going to help?" Ollie asked as he was standing on a ladder, creating a balloon arch by the door for the people to walk through. Connected to either side of the arch was a palm tree also created out of balloons.
Both of which Ollie made.
He was so talented.
"I am helping," I said. "I'm holding onto the ladder to make sure you don't fall."
"Yeah? And you're also resting your arms and head on one of the steps because you're trying to nap," Ollie said.
"Not trying to nap," I said. "I'm just relaxing. There's a difference."
"Which is?"
"The clearly obvious thing about napping being asleep and relaxing being awake. Besides, I already did a lot of work for this reunion. I deserve a break."
"What exactly have you done?"
"I made the cupcakes, Oliver. Cupcakes that made you cry because of how delicious they were."
Ollie chuckled. "I didn't cry, but they definitely are delicious cupcakes. However, I don't get why that means you can slack off with helping decorate the place. It's going to start soon."
"Soon?" I repeated. "It's going to start in an hour."
"Yeah, and there's still a lot to do," Ollie said. "This place is only half decorated, not all the food is here yet, and apparently there's some trouble with the music that's going to be playing tonight."
Even though Ollie was clearly worried a bit about how the high school reunion was going to go, I couldn't help but smile up at him.
"What now?" Ollie asked when he saw me smiling at him.
"Nothing," I said. "It's just that you being all worried and stuff is hot."
Ollie sighed heavily. "Everything I do is hot to you, apparently."
