Just quick things I should state since it hasn't been mentioned yet in the book: Ernest and Myra did move out. I kept meaning to mention it but I forgot lol.

Also I keep forgetting to Ollie and Grant have a dog :( I'm so sorry, Zelda, you deserve better.

Chapter 54: Trust

~Grant~

When I woke up today and, once again, noticed was already out of bed, I assumed he was just going to be focused on his investigation board, as we called it, in the living room like he has been every day.

       He wasn't, this time.

He was still in the living room. The investigation board was still set up. But he wasn't focused on it.

Ollie was focused on something else at the coffee table and as I got closer to the living room, I saw a bunch of sheet music either on the floor or the coffee table. Some of them were blank, some had a bunch of notes written on them, and others had a bunch of scribbles on them.

"Ollie, what are you doing?" I asked.

"There's this tune that hasn't left my mind since, like, four in the morning," Ollie said. "I've been trying to write it down but for some reason I can't. It's like... Like... Da na na. No, wait, that's not right..." He scribbled off the sheet music he had just written on before pushing it off the coffee table and letting it fall to the floor.

"Wait," I said. "You've been awake since four in the morning?"

       "Obviously," Ollie said.

"But... You didn't fall asleep until close to midnight," I said. "And you don't even look the slightest bit tired."

"I'm not tired," Ollie said. "That's why I woke up at four. Because I was no longer tired. And because of the tune that's in my head."

I wanted to sigh heavily but I tried my best not to so Ollie wouldn't think I was disappointed or upset or anything. The last thing I wanted to do was irritate him when I still didn't know what was going on with him and it was been almost two weeks.

I tried getting him to go to a doctor but he didn't think anything was wrong. He kept saying he was fine and the one thing I did know was that I shouldn't force him to go or just straight up tell him that what he thought was real truly wasn't.

"Well, since you've been up since four, are you hungry?" I asked. "I could get us some food at the diner."

"That would be great," Ollie said. "I've been meaning to eat but I just haven't reminded myself to since I'm very, very busy. I wouldn't be busy if I could just get this tune down on here. It's weird that I can't. I'm usually able to because I'm a musician so I know what notes sound like but I can't get these notes out for some reason. It's like... maybe these notes don't exist."

"You'll figure it out soon," I said. "So is there anything you want from the diner?"

"A burger. My favourite burger. Wait... Which one is my favourite one again? It's either the BLT or the BF's special. They both start with a B so I get confused."

"It's neither," I said. "It's the Backyard Smoke."

"Oh, right," Ollie said. "Duh. I can't believe I forgot about that one. That one is the best burger at the diner. Why are we talking about burgers again?"

"Because I'm going to go to the diner to pick us up something to eat," I said. "Are you sure you don't want something from the breakfast menu since it is nine in the morning?"
