(Y/n)'s POV

Me and the other S-class wizards were currently making our way to Tenrou island to prepare for the trials. Of course I was flying while Erza, Mira, and Gildarts were on a boat.

I flew over and started a conversation.

(Y/n): man, I always love this time of the year.

Mira: me too, it's a good way to see how far our fellow wizards have come in the past year.

Erza: yes, for all we know, the participants this year may be a challenge.

Gildarts: don't forget, 1 of those participants is Natsu. We all know that kid is persistent.

(Y/n): well, that's 1 of his greatest qualities. He doesn't know when to give up.

Gildarts: I'll tell you what, if I'm fighting Natsu and I can get him to surrender, you owe me a drink when we get back to the guild.

(Y/n): ok, but what do I get if he doesn't, you know I don't drink right?

Gildarts: hm, how about a trip to the book shop on me.

(Y/n): you know me so well, it's a deal.

We shook hands to seal the deal and went back to our conversation.

Mira: hm, do any of you remember when you first became S-class?

(Y/n): I do, I ruled in that trial.

Gildarts: only because you can fly.

(Y/n): hey, I don't wanna hear anything out of you. You're the one I went up against in my trial.

Flashback

I ran through a cave as the S-class trials had just begun. I didn't bring a partner cause I didn't want anyone getting caught in the crossfire. I had been training really hard and this was finally my chance to show what I could really do.

I got to the end of the cave and found myself in a fairly large room, and in the middle stood my opponent.

(Y/n): sup Gildarts.

Gildarts: hey (y/n), didn't think I'd be fighting you.

(Y/n): well, here I am. So we gonna do this or what?

Gildarts: to tell you the truth, I was planning to hold back against whoever I was gonna fight. But if it's you I'm fighting I don't have to.

Without warning, Gildarts completely blasted away the ceiling on the cave, letting the sun light shine in.

(Y/n): woah, so we're pulling out the big guns, huh? Fine by me. If you're not pulling your punches then neither am I.

Gildarts: I'll give you a few seconds to stretch before we start.

(Y/n): much appreciated.

I began stretching my legs, but I had a plan.

(Y/n): APOCALYPSE DRAGON ROAR!

My breath attack hit Gildarts head on and sent him back a few feet. However, he was able to block it.

Gildarts: not bad, attacking when you thought I had my guard down.

I ran behind him faster than his eyes could track.

(Y/n): APOCALYPSE DRAGON VALLEY BREAKER!

I hit him in the back and watched him roll on the ground for a bit before getting back up.

Gildarts: ok, you got a few hits in, now it's my turn.

I decided to sent another breath attack his way.

(Y/n): APOCALYPSE DRAGON ROAR!

Before it hit him, he sent out a blast of his crash magic. It broke my breath attack into pieces and ended up knocking me into a wall.

(Y/n): ok, time to get serious.

I sprouted my wings and began flying around the room as fast as I could.

(Y/n): APOCALYPSE DRAGON COMET!

I started flying in circles around Gildarts until a tornado began to form. The wind was clocking in at 500 miles a minute and Gildarts was right in the middle of it. He suddenly grabbed his throat and began gasping for air. He dropped to his knees and I stopped flying. The tornado dispersed and Gildarts looked up at me breathing heavily.

Gildarts: clever, you made a vortex so fast that it cut off my supply of oxygen. Cleverness is just what it takes to be an S-class wizard.

(Y/n): so does that mean I pass?

Gildarts: definitely.

I helped him up and moved on to the next round of the trial.

(Y/n): later, Gildarts.

Gildarts: good luck, kid.

Flashback end

Timeskip brought to you by chibi (y/n) hanging from a branch taking a nap

I had decided to take a nap for 2 reasons. 1, master already told me what he wanted me to do, and 2 I knew it would be awhile before everyone got here so I thought I'd catch some Z's.

Makarov: (y/n), wake up, they're all here.

I woke up, swung onto the branch I was hanging from, and followed the master, hopping from tree to tree. When we arrived, there stood Natsu, Happy, Cana, Lucy, Grey, Loke, Levy, Gajeel, Evergreen, and Elfman.

Makarov: Alright, I believe all of our winners are here now.

Grey: WAIT A SEC, WHAT'S HE DOING HERE?!

Grey pointed directly at me.

Makarov: if you must know, I asked (y/n) to do something very special in the trials this year.

Cana: and what is that exactly?

Makarov: I'll get to that in a moment. First, I should explain the second round. To pass the next round you must search the island for the grave of Fairy Tail's founder, Mavis Vermillion.

Natsu: come on Gramps that almost too easy.

Makarov: you have 6 hours to find it or you fail, no excuse. Now (y/n), would you like to explain how you have a part in this?

(Y/n): gladly.

I stood up on the branch I was perched on and spoke.

(Y/n): you see, there's 1 more thing about this round. Now it's a known fact that dragonslayers have a heightened sense of smell, perfect for tracking prey.

Lucy: I don't like where this is going.

(Y/n): the moment the round starts there will be a 15 minute timer. When the clock reaches 0 I'll be tracking you down and picking you off 1 by 1. If I find you and take you down you immediately fail the trial. However, if you somehow managed to beat me I'll give you a hint to where the grave is, and don't expect me to hold back just because you're my guild mates.

Makarov: I'll be waiting for you at Mavis' grave, now get a move on.

They all just stood there, stunned at my explaination of my part in this round.

(Y/n): what are you waiting for? RUN!

And with that, everyone dashed away in fear.

I dropped from the branch and stood next to Gramps.

Makarov: you seem to be enjoying yourself, and the timer just started.

(Y/n): what can I say, I love this time of year.
