They went back to the cabin near the woods right after they left Safiel's office. No one dared speak on their way there. And since Ember is being eaten by her curiosity, she asked a question to break the cold silence.
"Do angel's become sick?"
He appears to be shocked by the question she have fired. He stopped walking for a few seconds before continuing.
"I don't know if you can call it sickness, but its something like that. Some angel's have it several times a year. I've never seen Safiel having it before though..."
Contented with his answer, she continued walking in silence and asked no more.
Tomorrow, they will go back to where she once was. She'll have her chance to know what happened, how it happened.
Both of them occupied the same room they used last night. She closed the door then went to sleep.
•~•~•~•~•
Screams, pleads, cries, sighs, silent breaths. Everything is dark but she can hear these sounds coming from around her. After a few moments, it became silent. But the silence did not last long. She can hear whispers. Whispers that she can't understand.
The whispers then started to become louder, more understandable."It was your fault...."
"We did not do anything..."
"We do not deserve this...."The whispers are still going on and she can't do anything about it. She can't move from where she is standing nor say a single word. Ember felt something on her feet.
It was warm and sticky. She looked down to see what it is.
Hands. Bloody, little hands multiplying its numbers every passing moment. Bloody hands holding on her feet, her ankles, her thighs, her hands. Tugging in different direction. The whispers are still going on and the screams and pleas went back.
'This is all too much!' She thought.
She gathered all her remaining force and screamed.
"Ember!!" A man's voice woke her up.
She abruptly sat down, panting. She looked around as if trying to find if there are any traces of her nightmare in her current surroundings.
"Thank goodness you're now awake. You were frozen on your bed, sweating cold," he sighed in relief.
She said nothing to him before going to the comfort room. She prepared herself for the day.
"What kind of life did I have before...?" She whispered to herself.
After both of them are ready, they headed to the building once again. They went straight to the 50th floor to see Safiel who in turn gave them things that they would need together with a set of instructions and rules.
These instructions and rules are said to be very important. Despite that fact, Ember forgot about all of them. She's sure that Zyriel would remember so she doesn't need to.
The things given was not much really. Safiel gave the angel of change a black backpack and the little demon girl a smaller one. Safiel told both of them to not open the bags unless they have arrived at their destination.
Uno lead them to the elevator and reminded them.
"You have two months and twenty-seven days remaining for this project. Best of luck."
With that, he pressed a button outside the elevator making the door shut close. Silence was in the elevator as it moves down. The only thing they can hear are their own breathing.
Getting impatient, Ember took the bag from her back and sat down on the elevator floor. She placed the bag on her lap and was about to open it when she heard Zyriel spoke.
"You do remember that Uno told us not to open the bag, don't you?"
Ember trying to sound innocent then replied while tilting her head, "Did he?"
Zyriel sighed and sat down beside the demon. He took the smaller backpack from her hands and placed it beside him far from the curious little Ember.
"This can take an hour or so. You can take a nap if you want to," the angel suggested. Which was answered by a yawn from the girl.
She nodded and leaned on her companion's shoulder before easily falling into sleep.
•~•~•A bell rang and both of them jolted awake. Turns out the angel have also fallen asleep. Squinting their eyes, both of them rose to their feet grabbed their bags and went out the elevator.
"Welcome to the library," a girl's voice greeted.
