"How's the hunt?" was Choo Na-ri's way of greeting her daughter good morning, even though Hana's hair resembled a bird's nest and her night clothes were crumpled than what she was accustomed to.
"I met Sloth and Envy in one day," Hana groaned out as she dumped cereal in her bowl, mind too bleary to register that the flakes were falling all over the table and not the bowl.
"Isn't that wonderful? Did you capture them?"
"Sloth threw away the box in a street, and while I was trying to get it back, Envy appears from nowhere and talks to me before disappearing without a trace!" She sighed loudly, only now noticing the scattered flakes and picking them up grumpily.
"Finish up or they'll get a headstart on you."
Hana slumped on her seat, spoon clattering on the glass bowl.
"I think they're the ones getting a headstart on me," she grumbled, eating her breakfast and speedily going through her routine.
She's awfully thankful it's summer, and she can spend at least that free time to go hunting. If this keeps up till the school year, then she doesn't know how to handle that.
"Annyeong, eomma!" She kissed her goodbye and was almost out the door when she was put to a screeching halt by a sharp "Wait!"
She turned back, confused and curious.
"What are you wearing?"
"Yellow hoodie and denim shorts?"
"Are you trying to make Lust control you?"
Hana shook her head a vigorous no.
"Why would I do that?" she cried in outrage.
"Your clothes suggest-"
"Then I'm putting a sweater on it!"
Running up the stairs in full speed, Hana grabbed a long black coat from her room and rushed out the front door so she wouldn't have to face her mom's complaints about her clothes.
Lust control her? Ha. Ridiculous.
Now... she encountered two Sins yesterday, but they were able to escape from her.
It's true... they should never be underestimated. Sloth was just as powerful as any of them, and she could only imagine how their powers would conquer the world. Especially Pride and Wrath.
A familiar bubble of fear crawled up her stomach, but she pushed it down in favor of looking for any of the Sins. At this point, she could care less about who goes first or last on the list, so long as she could catch them all.
Like Pokemon, she mused.
"Oh, greedy for power?" a chilling voice said right next to her ear, snapping the teen out of her musings to lock eyes with a neon yellow, glinting with mischief and interest.
Oh no... who's this? Who wears yellow? His attire was flashy, with many gold rings on his fingers and a long white fur coat that reached the ground. Even if it wasn't so sunny today, he was wearing large dark sunglasses, one she only noticed after they met eyes. But his stature was tall and lean, his hair a neat hairdo with bright yellow teasing the sides. Hmm... if she could take a guess regarding his attire... she would say this was Greed.
"Are you hungry for more power? Wealth beyond your wildest dreams?" He gave her a wicked smile as he continues. "I can help you with that, my dear. Just help me with my humble goals, and I'll reward you for your service."
"Liar," she spat out with venom, taking the Sin aback at her tone. "You call yourself humble when you're second to Pride? Don't play with me, Greed," she breathed his name out with hatred, and his shock melted into one of amusement.
"Oh my, what a fierce character you are," he laughed, doubling over and producing a magazine out of nowhere to fan himself as he chuckled.
Hana's anger plummeted to wear a mask of confusion, not noticing another figure with red eyes watching her interaction with the Sin.
"What's so funny?"
He continued to wheeze and laugh instead. One glance at her was enough to send him cackling like no tomorrow, dozens of fans appearing around his person to blow wind to his reddened cheeks.
"You must be the one who set me and my brothers free, and as the rule declares, only she who set us free has the power to bring us back. Oh, marvelous indeed!"
He clapped his hands in glee, and with a swish of his hand the fans were gone to be replaced by comfortable chairs, which both of them were sitting upon.
The chairs were lavish and plush, obviously satisfying Greed's taste. She didn't mention it, but the fans were a bright red and twice as big as a regular fan, decorated with jewels and glitter, also suiting Greed's favor.
"You seem... calm among all this," she couldn't help but comment carefully, warily eyeing the Sin's every move, which consisted of feeding himself with juicy grapes and expensive wine floating in midair. Gosh, he has such an appetite.
"Would you want some?"
All the food was suddenly at her side.
"Not if I become your slave. So no thanks."
He shrugged his fur-covered shoulders, the food coming back to him, and shot her a smirk.
"You're very smart for your age," he said as he gulped down a large doughnut, smacking his lips after.
"I would believe that is a compliment on your part, but I take it as an insult," she frowned. "Just because I'm young doesn't mean I can't go saving the world."
The smile was gone.
"Clearly you misunderstood me, underling. I meant, you are by far the youngest in your family to be given the task of capturing us back."
The grumpy look on her face vanished at that.
"What do you mean 'my family'?"
"Oh, so your mother never told you then?"
"Told me what?" Now she was curious, which was bad at this time. She glanced down at her folded hands. "She told me when the right time comes."
The luxurious chairs were gone with a cloud of smoke, and the two were just left standing among people who continued with their business, unaware of their presence or their conversation.
"Pssh, right time, nighttime," he waved off with a flourish of the hand. "No one can tell when the right time comes. Your mother is a very greedy person." An evil smirk grew on his lips, and Hana became annoyed at the accusation.
"Greedy? How is she greedy? You're only saying that cuz you're the Sin!"
"She keeps information from you, and lies to your face that only then will you understand when you reach an age acceptable to her. Are you willing and prepared to wait that long, underling? Tell me."
His neon eyes fixated on her own, and Hana suddenly can't move, limbs locked and mind all over the place. Was he controlling her?
She tried to clear her throat, and meekly answered "I don't think so."
Suddenly her whole body was hers again, and she could breathe with no difficulty.
"Your mother only wants to satisfy herself. She doesn't know it, but I do. After all, like you said, I am Greed." With a wink, he was gone in a flash of colors.
Hana was left alone with a gaping mouth and heart, frustrated at herself for letting yet another Sin to escape. What was she going to do now? She seemed useless in this mission, and the burden was starting to feel heavy on her body. She didn't do anything physically straining, but she was mentally drained.
"Are you trying to become my host?"
"Not now, Lust, get away-"
But she was startled to find herself staring at eyes as red as glittering rubies, and she realized that it wasn't Lust at all. Not even close.
"W- Wrath?"
"You got my name wrong!" he exclaimed angrily, an explosion akin to a volcano erupting out of the top of his head. That, in itself, was scary enough to rattle Hana's being.
What happens next??
