At the very back of a classroom, a young man who never really stood out was looking out the window, waiting for the school day to be finished. His hair was golden, tied into a low ponytail. His eyes were blue like the sky. He wore a loose white sweater and khaki pants.
It was his last year of high school, and he still didn't know what to do. Most of his classmates already knew what colleges they were going to attend to, what work field they wanted to work. But him? He had no clue.
The bell rang for dismissal, but the young man still sat there. The sound of someone slamming their hand on his desk startled him out of his daze.
Turning towards the sound, the young man saw the bully of the school. Groose. "If it isn't Link. Or should I say stink? Because you stink of failure."
Link rolled his eyes. "Very funny, Groose. Like I haven't heard that one before." He stood up from his chair, grabbing his backpack.
"Where do you think you're going? To your mommy to cry your eyes out? Oh, wait a minute. You don't have a mommy." Groose started laughing in his face, hoping to get a reaction out of him.
Link stayed silent, pushing down the anger that was boiling inside of him. Living in an orphanage, he never knew who his parents were. Since he was almost of age, he was going to move out anyway. No one wants to adopt an almost young adult.
Not wanting to start a fight in the middle of the classroom, Link walked past Groose without saying a word. Groose looked irritated, looking annoyed that Link didn't try to fight back. "You better walk away, loser! It's not like you have anyone to go home to!"
That's where he was wrong. Link had someone to go home to. Over the years, Link had developed an indestructible bond with a girl that was 7 years younger than him. Aryll.
She was like a little sister to him. The first day she started living in the orphanage, Aryll had taking a liking to Link, following him everywhere he went. Those memories spent together was Link's fondest memories.
On his way to the orphanage, Link was looking around the area with his eyes. The trees were vibrant green, the flowers were in full bloom. It was like he was walking on a path in a fairytale.
The wind picked up, blowing his hair towards his face. Shutting his eyes on instinct, he began moving his hair away from his face.
Feeling like the wind had calmed down, Link opened his eyes, seeing a mysterious girl from the distance. She was wearing some kind of strange outfit, a face mask covering half of her face.
Her golden hair was gently blowing against the wind. Her piercing blue eyes was staring through him. Their eyes met, feeling like the world was still. For some reason, Link felt a sense of familiarity with this girl even though this was the first time seeing her. It was strange.
The wind picked up again, having Link shut his eyes once more. Opening them up again, he saw that the girl had vanished.
Rubbing his eyes, Link thought he was seeing things. He might be since he has been having trouble sleeping recently. Letting out a yawn, Link continued his way to the orphanage. It was the most strangest encounter, but he decided it was just a passing thought.
It's not like Link was ever going to see her again.
