   Everything was dark

Everything was dark. The only sound Link could hear was the sound of the pouring rain. Opening his eyes, Link noticed that he was no longer in the Lost Woods with Zelda. But in front of the orphanage back in the modern world.

Looking down, he saw that his hands were smaller than usual. Running towards a puddle, Link saw his reflection. He was a kid again.

Confused on why he sudden became a child, Link looked around. There wasn't a person in sight. Feeling like the world was closing him on him, Link put his hands on his head. "Hello?! Is anyone here?! Anyone?!" There was no response.

All of a sudden, the door to the orphanage opened, revealing the woman who had taken care of him and the other orphanage children. "Link! What are you doing out in the rain? Come back inside before you catch a cold!"

Link blinked in response. This dream wasn't just any dream. It was his past. He remembered running out of the orphanage in frustration several times. The school bully that followed him from elementary through high school always made him feel like he was always inferior. Groose.

At first, Groose's words and actions had always affected Link. Making him cry, making him think negative thoughts, making him question his self worth. But over time during high school, he just started to go with it, feeling like he had become numb to it. Like it was the same old thing.

Even though this sudden occurrence only happened recently, Link almost forgot what it felt like to live a mundane life. Ever since he learned that he was a prince from another world and has to save his sister from the king of Lorule, he truly felt like he was living much differently than most teens.

While in thought, the scenery had changed into another familiar place. School. Link was sitting on his desk, blankly staring out of the window.

All of a sudden, someone had pushed Link out of his chair, making him snap out of it. Sitting up, he saw Groose staring down at him. "Why do you always have to be such a space cadet? What do you think about in that empty head of yours?"

Standing up, Link rubbed the bottom of his back. "It's none of your business, alright?"

"Oh I'm sorry Mr. I'm too sensitive. Did I hurt your feelings?"

Link rolled his eyes. "Not really."

Groose ended up shoving him against the wall, making him fall once more. "You're such a loser, you know that? You will always be a loser, and nothing will ever change that." He walked passed Link, heading towards his seat.

As usual, none of his classmates were even going to stand up to Groose or even ask him if he was alright. Typical.

Getting up, Link walked over to his seat once more. Even if this was a dream, it felt all too real. Like he was back to his old life again. A life that he wishes he could get out of for good. Clutching his hands, Link just wanted this dream to go away. He didn't want to live his old life like nothing had happened.

Like if Zelda never came into the picture.

Zelda. Even if this was a dream, he missed her. Only knowing her for a short time, he felt like she was his first true friend. Someone who was befriended him first. Protected him. Never ridicule him. But treated him as an actual person.

Even if he thought of her as a friend, Link felt like his heart was flying when he thought of her. He didn't know why. It felt like he was in a shojo manga. What is this feeling?

Feeling the wind blowing in his face, Link instinctively closed his eyes. Opening them back up, he saw Zelda standing right there. Her golden hair was blowing in the wind. Her piercing blue eyes stared right through him.

   It was deja vu. The first day Link had saw her, she had felt so familiar to him. And now he understood why. She was his bodyguard as children. But more than that... His childhood friend. She had just wiped the answer from his memories. In order to protect him.

   Link stared at Zelda longingly, reaching out his hand to her. Not expecting it, Zelda held out her hand, their hands intertwining. A slight blush appeared on his face. Why was this happening? This dream was changing into some kind of fairytale. But instead of a prince and a princess, it was a prince and his bodyguard.

   The wind blew once more, making Link close his eyes. All in one second, everything felt like it was falling beneath his feet.

~~~
   Opening his eyes, Link saw that Zelda was sound asleep. They had called it a night when they had entered the Autumn season, finding a cave to rest in.
   Link didn't know what time it was. He heard an owl outside, assuming that it was still night. He absolutely hated it when he woke up in the middle of the night.
   But this time... It wasn't all too bad. He got to see a side of Zelda he had never seen before. Her vulnerable side.
   If he stopped and thought about it, Zelda's sleeping face was adorable. A blush appeared on his face, not knowing why he thought that in the first place. He felt weird thinking of her like that.
   Shaking his head to get rid of embarrassing thoughts, Link laid back down, hoping to go back to sleep. He needed all the rest he needed for this part of the journey. But something told him that it would take some time to fall back asleep.
