Upon entering my place, I quickly kicked off my shoes, feeling the cold floor underneath my bare feet while I shuffled to my bedroom. I was kind of glad the unsettling feeling I had got back at the restaurant was slowly starting to fade away.

Nevertheless, I was still uneasy. I was afraid it would come back as fast as it had appeared before and this time, Taehyung wouldn't be there to bring me back to my right headspace.

Without hesitation, I took my clothes off and scurried to the bathroom to wash up before going to bed. Based on how much fun Taehyung was having tonight, I supposed it would still be a while before he came back so I wasn't planning on waiting up for him.

The truth was, I was happy that he was spending the evening with his guy friends. I knew he loved hanging out with me and so did I, but passing all of his free time with his girlfriend wasn't exactly healthy.

While putting my pajamas on, I noticed how my phone screen lit up with an incoming call. I bit my lower lip as I reached out to take it in my head and look at the caller ID. It was an unknown number.

I glanced at the clock. It was 3 am.

I tugged on the hem of my shirt as the phone kept buzzing in my phone. I had no idea who would be calling me this time at night. Hesitantly, I pressed my thumb against the green circle on the screen.

"Hello?"

"Hello, Y/N?"

My heart stopped.

"Jungkook?"

There was silence on the other line. Was I mistaken?

"Hey," when he finally replied, his voice was a hoarse whisper.

"Is that you?" I asked, still uncertain. He sounded so different.

"Mhm," he simply hummed, then paused. "I'm sorry, I probably shouldn't have called."

"No, it's okay. It's just really late here, that's why I was surprised." Also, I didn't expect you to call me.

"How- how are you?" he faltered.

"Fine, I guess," I mumbled, my fingers toying with a thread hanging from my sleeve.

"How is... school?"

"I have one semester left before I graduate."

"I just know you'll do great."

"And how are you?" my heart nearly stopped after the words left my mouth. "I wanted to call and check up on you, but I- I didn't really know how to contact you after you left." I dug my teeth into my lower lip. I was probably rambling. It had been one month since I last talked to him. Speaking with him on the phone felt nearly surreal.
