Madelyn's POV: "He's back?!" Fred said.
"That son of a bitch!" Eric said. His eyes flashed red, his teeth were out, hair stood up, and claws were coming out.
"Eric calm down." Jeff chimed in.
"Who's Tobias?" I asked, confused.
"Have you been having nightmares at all?" I nodded. "Is the man in it very gothic looking? Long black hair, arched black brows, piercings, etc.?" I nodded again. "That's him."
"And he's a real guy." Jeff said. I swallowed hard at those words.
"R-real?" I stuttered.
"Yeah, and apparently he's had an interest in you for a long time." Eric said.
"He uses his powers to infiltrate your dreams." Tom explained, "I'm sure you're aware of this considering you've lived here your whole life, but there are good creatures and bad creatures for every one of us. I'm a good one and Tobias is a bad one. He's tried to get control of all the women I've loved. I assume your dad's told you I'm a clingy guy, but it's all out of protection. I don't want to see the women I love fall victim to him. So I become overprotective of them. They don't understand why I do it, mainly since I don't tell them about him, and they leave me. But since you've seen him in your nightmares I think it's fair I tell you about him. He's had this infatuation with you for so long, ever since you were born, and I have a bad feeling he wants to act on it."
"Great. I'm screwed." I threw my arms in the air.
"Tom, you know what you have to do." Eric said.
"I know, but I doubt her father will be ok with it." Tom replied.
"What?" I asked. He was hesitant to talk.
"Our theory is that the only reason Tobias wants you so badly is because you're human. He has an issue with mortals. The only way we could solve it is by me turning you." Tom explained.
"You mean—"
"He'd have to bite you." Jeff said. My mind started racing. I have to turn at some point so my dad doesn't have to worry about planning a funeral, but I know he'll kill me if he finds out.
"Is this the only way?" I asked.
"We think so." Tom said. I sighed.
"Just do it and get it over with." I said. I brushed my hair off to the side so my neck was visible. Tom sat down next to me.
"It's gonna sting a bit." He said, "But our fangs produce a numbing agent so it doesn't hurt long."
"Don't stall just do." I said, wanting to get it over and done with. He seemed more hesitant than me, probably since he doesn't want to hurt me. After a few silent moments, he bit into my neck. It hurt a little, obviously, considering he plunged two dagger like teeth into my carotid artery. But not long after, the numbing agent kicked in and I didn't feel a thing. When he was done, Tom wiped the blood off my neck.
"It's done." He said. I felt my teeth change and two fangs formed. My nails were also suddenly stiletto shaped.
"Wait, I wanna see something." I said, standing up.
"If you're trying to become a bat you have to picture yourself being one." Jeff said. Damn clairvoyant.
I pictured myself turning into a bat, and I turned into one. I smiled and giggled as I flapped my wings. Tom chuckled as well before I turned back to my normal form.
"Now that's fun." I said.
"But now you have to adhere to a vampire lifestyle." Tom said, "Avoid garlic, sun, and wooden stakes. You can eat whatever you want but you need blood for nourishment. The apothecary at the market has the best stuff."
"That's the only thing I'm not looking forward too." I said.
"It's not bad." Tom assured me, "Get her flavored stuff. Then it doesn't taste like iron. May I suggest the rootbeer float one, tastes just like one." I chuckled.
"I better get home." I looked at the clock which read 8:34 A.M.
"Be safe Maddie." Tom said.
"You finally called me Maddie." I said.
"Well, are we a thing or not?" He asked, "Because if not I'll go back to calling you Madelyn."
"Well considering you bit me and that I like you, I would say we're a thing." I replied. Tom smiled, handing me an umbrella. Concentrating on my new powers, I was able to teleport back home...
