Madelyn's POV: One thing I envy about the creatures here is they don't have to spend forever putting on makeup. Whatever they imagine just appears on their face. Why do you think almost every vampire has dark eye makeup on?
I finally got my makeup finished by 2:15 A.M. Knowing that Hedwig's Junction is a club atmosphere, I went with a burgundy look tonight. Usually I don't wear a lot of makeup because I'm lazy, but I wanted to look decent tonight.
"Later dad love you." I quickly ran out of the house before he could protest. I understand he's just concerned for my emotions. He told me himself that Tom is truly a nice guy but he gets clingy. Honestly though, I'm desperate for something. I need to feel like someone is capable of loving a human.
When I arrived at Hedwig's, the place was getting packed. I quickly found a table so I wouldn't have to stand the whole night. Judging by the amps, guitars, and mics onstage, I'm assuming a band is playing tonight. Nice atmosphere I guess.
As time passed though, Tom was nowhere in sight. My heart was starting to sink at the thought I've been stood up. When 3:30 A.M. hit, I honestly considered leaving. But when the band finally came onstage, my gut told me to stay a bit longer.
Luckily I listened.
"Sorry we're late we hit a duck crossing and got stuck there for a bit." Tom said into the mic. Now that I know he's a musician I'm really interested in him.
"The fucking mallards here are assholes." The bassist said. He's not wrong. Just like in your world ducks are assholes, especially when crossing the street.
"Well how about we have a good time huh?" Tom asked, the crowd cheering in response. He winked at me as he started playing the opening riff. I was sort of in disbelief since he basically tricked me. He didn't tell me he was in a band, let alone playing tonight. He had me sad and worried that he stood me up, all for nothing.
After they finished their set, Tom came over and sat across from me.
"Whatcha think?" He asked.
"I'm a sucker for music so of course I loved it." I answered. He smiled.
"Oooooooooh Tommy's got a date." The bassist came up and repeatedly poked him.
"Fuck off would ya." Tom pushed his hand away.
"C'mon Keifer it's a rare sight. We don't see you with chicks anymore." The other guitarist said.
"Madelyn, this is Eric, Jeff, and sleeping beauty over there is Fred." Tom introduced me to his band.
"Dude you smell that?" Eric asked.
"What do you smell now?" Tom asked.
"Smells like—" Eric sniffed more, "Steak!"
"Dude we're in a fucking nightclub all they got is chicken strips." Jeff said.
"No, that's definitely steak." Eric said before wandering off in search of the scent.
"Werewolf?" I asked.
"Is it that easy?" Tom replied.
"Yeah, my dad's one so I pick them out easily" I said.
"Oh yeah, you're dad's Blackie isn't he?" Jeff chimed in. "Sorry, clairvoyant here."
"No worries." I said, "The entire realm pretty much knows he's my father."
"Would you please go wake Fred up and leave us be?" Tom asked, now annoyed.
"Ok ok Christ Keifer." Jeff walked off.
"Sorry about them." Tom apologized, "They get really nosey whenever I'm with someone."
"It's fine." I replied. We continued talking until the sun started to come up.
"I gotta go. Shall we continue this soon?" He asked, standing up and grabbing his umbrella.
"You have my number, feel free to text or call anytime." I replied. He smirked once more before leaving. When I realized it was 6:34 A.M. and I had to go home, I sighed.
It was nice while it lasted...
