Daryl's POV

The walker lays unmoving on top of me as another did to Tdog. I still had the little girl under the car in sight and I wasn't planning on changing that. Dozens of limping walkers stumbled there way down the highway, snarling and searching for there next meal. It seemed as if the whole world reeked of death. After all the walkers had past our group I walked over to where the girl was hiding.

"Stop!" she called out from behind the car. I stopped in my tracks and turned to her.

"I ain't gonna hurt ya" I told her, holding up my hands in surrender. She rose her bow higher and aimed it in between my eyes.

"I lost my sister, you seen her?" she asked, taking a few steps back from me. I shook my head causing her to let out an irritated sigh. She slightly lowered her bow, it was aimed at my chest.

"I'm going to leave and your not going to follow me. Okay?" she ordered. I hesitantly nodded, then I thought what Alyx would say.

Don't let her go, she's a little girl who needs your help

"Wait!" I called out, getting her attention before she ran off.

"Why won't ya stay? Gotta group ye might like" I mentioned. She sighed before running a hand through her hair.

"I'm with my family, I'm fine. Just back off" She threatened as she began to take steps off into the forest. I gave up and lowered my hands. I turned around and grabbed my crossbow when I heard a blood-curdling scream come from near by.

I spun on my heels and sprinted towards the scream. I saw a glimpse of dark brown hair chase after a little girl.

Sophia

God dammit...

Alyx POV

The darkness slowly faded away and was replaced with a blinding light. The softness beneath me was the first indication that my surroundings had changed. I couldn't move or speak, but I could see and hear. My eyes fluttered open and I saw the same girl from before sitting in a chair across from me. I was laying down on a bed, unable to fidget even the slightest bit. My joints aches and the sensation of numbness coursed through my body. I was stiff from inactivity and inevitably to move.

Her eyes widen in shock when she saw me come too. She stood up from the chair and ran over to the doorway. My throat burned as mumbled words escapade my dry lips.

"Daddy!" she exclaimed. "Shes waken!". Moments later an old man and a middle aged woman came rushing into the room, carrying medical supplies.

"Hello Miss Johns. I'm Hershel. Can you hear me?" he said, waving his hand infront of my face. The movement made my head pound even harder than it already was. I squeezed my eyes shut. I nodded as best as I could while Hershel sighed and the woman adjusted the IV in my forearm.

"Wha-at ha-appen-end?" I managed to croak out. The middle aged women looked at me with sad, pity filled eyes.

"Riley was on a run with my other daughter, Maggie. She got separated on her and ran into you. Do you remember what I'm talking about?" he calmly replied. I nodded again causing a sharp pain to shoot through the back of my head.

"You were carrying a little girl, when you fell you hit your head very hard. The walkers that were following you, they trampled you and bruised some of your internal organs." he informed. Wait... Why didn't they attack me? More important, Where's Sophia?
