Chapter 5: The first step part 2

It was peaceful, just another sunny day, a bird was flying innocently in the wind...that was until Ruby blindly crashed into it, killing it in the process.

"Birdie, no!" She cried as she used her landing technique to land in the forest safely with her scythe. Weiss was soon landing after, summoning platforms to jump down safely. Other students were using their landing techniques to land safely into the forest, Yang was jumping from tree to tree with her sunglasses on and rolled into the forest quickly.

"Nailed it" She smirked.

Pyrrha landed in a tree and looked through her gun scope, only to see Jaune falling and screaming in terror, Pyrrha changed her gun to a spear, which she planned to use to help Jaune land safely. She aimed precisely and threw the spear. After hearing a faint THUNK! she heard Jaune shout...

"Thank you!"

"I'm sorry!" She shouted back. Meanwhile, the boys were falling into the forest and Jotaro was screaming his head off, but in excitement.

"I'M SUPERMAN!!!"

"No you're not" Pico frowned. "Come on, be realistic"

"You want us to be realistic...okay" Amity then grabbed his temporary sword and stabbed it into a nearby tree trunk, sliding down it with ease. "You're welcome!"

"That wasn't realistic!" Pico shouted in denial and he used his claws to grip onto a nearby tree branch. Roaul grabbed his bow and arrows and shot a line for a nearby tree and shot the tree trunk, gripping the rope that the arrow was attached to and swung like Tarzan, hopping off trunks and rolling for a finish.

"Rule one of being an assassin: Use the environment" Rolo notified himself as he smiled in accomplishment. Jotaro grabbed his sledgehammer and swung it into a nearby tree, stopping him, but making him fall with the hammer.

"Nailed it" Jotaro wheezed as the hammer fell beside him.

Ruby landed in the forest and looked around, no one was with her.

'Gotta find Yang, gotta find Yang, gotta find-'

"Yang!" Ruby called out.

'This is bad, this is really, really bad, I gotta find Yang, But what if someone finds her first?' Ruby thought making her more nervous by the second. 'There's always Jaune, he's nice, funny, but might not be too good in a fight though. What about Blake? She's mysterious, so calm, plus, she likes books, though I don't think I'll be able to hold a conversation with her'

Ruby thought hard about what student in Beacon could be her perfect partner, then it hit her.

'Amity! He could be my partner! He understands me, loves to talk with me, he even stood up for me, what about being in a fight? Who knows, maybe that's a good thing, maybe he'll surprise me'

"Right, so I know, Jaune, Blake, Yang, Amity and..."

Ruby stopped mid sentence as she saw someone in her way, she put her feet down, trying to stop her speed, she soon came to a halt and saw who her partner was in front of her. It was Weiss. Who did not look all that happy to see her. They both stared at each other blankly, until Ruby made a smile. Weiss turned around slowly.

"I'm sorry" Weiss said as she walked away.

"Hey, wait!" Ruby reached her arm out, but stopped chasing Weiss. "We're supposed to be teammates"

Weiss trudged through the bushes and pushed any kind of nature out of her way, until she saw Jaune stuck in a tree with Pyrrha's spear through his hoodie. He shyly waved at Weiss, who turned around and went back to Ruby.

"Look, I'll accept you being my teammate, but we're not friends yet, okay?" Weiss asked.

"You came ba-" Ruby stopped mid-sentence again and cleared her throat. "Understood"

"Come on" Weiss sighed as she walked with Ruby. Jaune did not seem too happy about it and pleaded for them to come back.

"Hey! Wait! Who's gonna get me out of here?!" Jaune asked. He sighed as he knew that he had to be stuck in the tree a little longer than expected.

"Jaune" He then looked below him to see Pyrrha looking up at him with a strange look on her face. "Do you have any spots left on your team?"

"Haha, very funny" Jaune crossed his arms with an angry look, but that anger soon turned to hope as he saw Pyrrha looking up at him, smiling.

"What's the rush?" Ruby asked Weiss.

"Look, you heard the professor, if we want good grades, then we should at least try to finish this quick, if you're too slow, I will not wait for you" Weiss explained, who turned around to see Ruby in front of her. She yelped in surprise as she was shocked to see Ruby's speed.

"I'm not slow silly, come on, you don't have to worry about me" Ruby smiled.

"When did-"

"Weiss, just because I don't know how to handle people, doesn't mean I don't know how to handle monsters" Ruby explained. Weiss crossed her arms. "You're gonna see a whole different side of me today Weiss, and free this is all over, you're gonna be like, 'Whoa, that Ruby girl is SO cool, and I wanna be your friend'"

Ruby then vanished in a flurry of rose petals. Weiss looked around and was in deep thought.

'Maybe Amity was right, but it's gonna have to take a lot more than words to change my point of view, I need to see what she can do'

Weiss then heard growls coming from different angles of her vision, red eyes starting and form, which soon turned to bodies.

"RUBY!" Weiss called, but no answer.

Meanwhile...

"Hello?! Anyone?!" Amity called out, no answer. "How big is this forest"

Amity then saw someone in his vision, he ran towards the figure, only to see that it was Pico.

"Pico!" Amity smiled. "Looks like you're my partner"

"For the next four years, yeah, let's get a move on" Pico ran off, Amity was confused, it was not like him.

"Pico, what are you doing?" Amity asked.

"I wanna get good grades, son, is that a problem?" Pico answered.

"I thought you hated school" Amity laughed.

"Well, THIS school shows a LOT of potential for fighting, like all schools should, so I wanna stay here, and to do that, we need good grades" Pico explained, not even bothering to breathe. "So, COME ON!"

Amity smiled at his friend's enthusiasm and ran with him the the temple.

"You are certainly one of the most bossy and enthusiastic people I know" Amity said.

"I'll take that as a compliment" Pico replied.

"It WAS a compliment" Amity said back.

"I'm still taking it as one!" Pico shouted. "Don't test me, BOY!"

"Or what?" Amity smirked.

"Or I'll tease you about, Ruby, lover boy" Pico smirked back, making Amity lose his.

"Shutting up now" Amity groaned.
