As if Layla understood the conversation, all of a sudden she starts to cry and be difficult. I try giving her a bottle, her dummy, watching Peppa but the only thing she wants is for me to stand up and rock her to sleep. I tried to do it in the pram but she just wouldn't co-operate, so for about the next 30 mins I had to hold Layla one-handed, rock her to sleep, catch her bottle if she dropped it and still complete all of my work for the lesson. I think by the look on the girl's faces when they saw how hard just doing that was they might have changed their minds. Finally, she was asleep but the bell went and she wasn't asleep enough for me to put her in the pram. So I walked to English pushing the pram with one hand and holding a sleeping Layla in the other while dodging lots of other staff and students who all looked at me when I passed by.
I arrive at my English classroom and my teacher hasn't arrived yet so I walk over to Abby. After 5 mins of standing and waiting for our teacher she finally arrives. I walk in last and leave the pram out the front, then I go to my teacher and ask if I could just talk to the class and explain everything and it should only take like 2 mins. She just looks at me rudely and yells at me to go sit down, of course that woke up Layla so I had to try and get her to stop crying so I give her her dummy and that calms her down. About halfway through the lesson I was sick of my teacher looking at me rudely and giving me attitude, I ask Abby if she wants to come with me to change Layla's nappy since it needed to be changed anyway. She agrees and we all walk up to the teacher and ask her and I show her the note from Miss Opare, she replies 'No, there is no reason for you to leave class let alone have a baby at school !'. I whisper to Abby ' I'm going to ask one more time nicely then if she still says no I'm going to just leave'. I ask once more nicely but she still refuses again and then stands in front of the door so we couldn't leave, I grab all of the things I need to change Layla (nappy, wipes, change mat) and lay down the change mat on her desk and change her right then and there. She looks at me disgustingly and tells me I have a lunch detention with her. I was about to answer her back when someone in my class stands up and starts defending me, Miss tells them to sit down but the more she rebuts the more of the class that stands up. Eventually, the entire class is defending me and Layla. After that no-one works for the rest of the lesson they all just sit on the tables talking, playing with Layla or on there phones and we were ALL ignoring Miss.
Lunch was next and it went about the same as recess minus the drama. I tell everyone about what happened in English because only Abby was there, they all thought it was really funny. Lunch went fairly quickly especially since Layla was asleep the whole time.
