"The plan is now to stay with me, I will not let you go home with a whole gang chasing after you" Shawn says.

"You can't keep me here" I say crossing my arms looking up at him.

His eye-brow raised as he took a step forward trying to intimidate me. "Are you testing my authority?" He asks sternly and I gulped staring into his eyes.

"No I'm stating the facts that you can't keep me against my will here" I says and Lance snickered.

His jaw clenched as his eyes looked over at Lance before looking back me again "Well you are staying here end of discussion" he says as his jaw unclenches.

"What about my mom?" I ask and he sighed.

"She will not believe me if I tell her that some crazy gang is after me and some stranger is saying 'he's protecting me'. She won't believe it" I say and they all hummed.

"Tell her that you got a promotion at work now you have to move away for a few months for it" Cole says and I shook my head.

"I work in a shoe store, she will not believe that" I say.

"Do you live with her?" Lance asks and I shook my head 'no'.

"I live alone."

"Just say you got a new job and you're going to be really busy the next few months" Lance says.

"That idea might work" Shawn says and I shrugged.

"Right let's do that and see what she says" Shawn says and I nodded.

"Um- I don't have a phone" I add.

"I'll give you a phone to use and show you where you can stay" Shawn says and I nodded.

Lance helped me off the counter as I followed Shawn out of the kitchen in to this huge house. The place was huge and there was only three of them living here which was crazy. The kitchen was like the size of my apartment.

We walked down a long hallway before stopping at the end. I was busy looking around that I bumped into Shawn's back as we stopped at the door, he opened the door and walked inside and I followed behind.

"This is my office and you are not allowed in here at all, it's off limits unless I say so" he says and I nodded.

He handed me a phone which I could ring my mom off of. I stood there thinking for a few minutes on what her number was. "We don't have all night" Shawn voice said with annoyance.

"I'm trying to remember her number" I say and he rolls his eyes before walking to the corner of the room. I took a deep breath and I dialled her phone number.

It rang a few times before I heard her voice on the other end of the phone. "Hello?"

"Hey mom it's me, Elle"

"Oh Elle what do you want?" She asks with annoyance in her tone.

"I have an internship stating in California soon, so I'm not going to be in New York for a while because I'll be busy working" I say.

"That's good" She says unenthusiastically.

"I just want to tell you but I guess I'll let you go and-"
Before I could finish she hung up and I felt a bit of sadness but I put the phone down anyway and turned back to see Shawn.

My mom and I haven't had the best relationship growing up. My dad was in a gang and my mother wanted to get out of all his bad business but when she found out she was pregnant she had to stay with him. However she kept me away from all of my fathers gang business, I don't know if she was different and not very loving towards me because of my father.

I loved both of my parents equally whether they loved me or not. After my fathers death, my mom re-married a guy within a year almost and moved on with her life. I moved out once I was eighteen but stayed in contact with her because she was my mom.

We kept in contact and would see each other once or twice a year but it would always just be awkward.

"Done?" Shawn asks and I nodded as I watched him smoke his cigarette.

"That was a very quick conversation and I'm surprised that she believed it" he says as he put out his cigarette.

I guess she doesn't even care about me.

"I can't believe she brought it" I say with a light chuckle.

"I'll show you the room where you will be staying in while your here with me-us I mean all of us" he stuttered as I followed him up a huge staircase.

"There are silent alarm triggers on all the windows so don't open it without asking me. Do not come out of your room once you have gone in there for the night" he instructs and I nodded.

"Think of this as a free place of accommodation, I'll give you whatever you need while you stay here in my care" he says and I shrugged.

We stopped at the end of the hall as he opened the door and walked inside and I followed him into the big bedroom. "This is where you will be staying and I'll give you some clothes to wear for now as you don't have any clothes" he says.

"My room is across the hall from yours so if you need anything you know where I am but I don't like being disturbed" he says and I frowned.

"Stay here while I get you something to wear" he says as he left the room.

I took a deep breath and sat down on the bed before I let out a sigh.

What was happening?

I still didn't understand anything, I was being kept here with people I didn't really know who were saying they're going to protect me. I was still scared of these three men who I didn't know.

I wonder how long I had to stay here for and what was actually going to happen.

Shawn walked back into the room with some clothes in hand which he dumped on the bed beside me.

"Are you hungry?" He asks and I shook my head.

I was more tired then hungry.

"Change and then get some sleep I'll see you in the morning" he says as he turned to leave.

"Wait-" I say which made him tune back to face me.

"How long will I have to stay here?" I asked.

"I'm going to be sorting out a plan to put in action but the most you'll have to stay here is a few months" he says and my jaw dropped.

"A few months!"

"The Rampages are a big gang spread all of the US and some parts of Canada, so it will take time to wipe them out before I can let you leave" he says.

"How are you going to clear them all out?" I asked meekly.

"Kill them. Simple" he says.

"Kill them? Won't that result in like a huge war or something?" I asked and he sighed.

"You don't have to worry about it" he says.

"Can't you get rid of them a different way? Like no violence maybe? Because I'm scared of this whole violence outbreak" I say and he scoffed.

"There's no way we can get rid of them any other way and you have a lot to learn princess" he says and I looked up at him when he called me 'princess'.

"I'm scared like what if something huge breaks out and it goes to the innocent people and children, it won't be good at all if-"

"You talk a lot" He deadpans as he cut off my rambling.

"Sorry" I mumbled in embarrassment as I looked away.

"Just get some sleep" he says as he turned to leave again.

"Wait-" I say again which only made him angrily turn around to face me.

"What now!" He barked in frustration and I gulped.

"Why are you protecting me?" I asked him as I looked up into his dark eyes which softened and he let out a breath.

"Maybe I'll tell you another time, just get some sleep" he says dismissing our conversation...
