Star Wars: The Tale of Darth Aolroth Book III - Fall of Darkness

Chapter Two

On board the Devastator, Emperor Aolroth looks to the divided fleet before him that prepares to diverge on different paths. Grand Admiral Quinn meets with Emperor Aolroth on the bridge to discuss the mission.

Quinn: Such a dangerous gambit my lord.

Emperor Aolroth: It is Grand Admiral, but it is our only option. If we continue to fight on two fronts against the Republic and Empire, everything we built for will be for nothing.

Quinn: I understand that my lord. I will follow your orders faithfully to the end.

Quinn assures his loyalty to his Emperor. They soon get a transmission on the holoterminal. They patch it through to to reveal Lord Scourge.

Emperor Aolroth: Are your forces ready Scourge?

Emperor Aolroth: We await your order, Emperor. We shall launch the attack on Taris at your command.

Emperor Aolroth: Good. You have my blessing. Go forth and attack Taris with all your power!

With the transmission ended, Lord Scourge takes a large portion of the Fleet to Taris in order to distract the Imperial Fleet for the invasion of Korriban, leaving only a fraction of the Fleet to launch the main invasion.

Quinn: So it begins.

Emperor Aolroth: No. This is where it will end. To Korriban.

Without hesitation, Grand Admiral Quinn orders the rest of the Fleet to go into Hyperspace. Once they reach the space of Korriban, they see a small Imperial Fleet.

Quinn: It appears Lord Scourge's distraction has worked, my lord.

Emperor Aolroth looks to the small fleet before him. He could feel the tense air surrounding him. The former Sith Lord had never thought he would ever invade the place that had given him the tools he needed for survival. All the memories of Overseer Tremel's guidance seemed a distant memory. Now it was likely that they would meet again in combat. But everything that happens here was for True Peace. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Emperor Aolroth: Launch the attack.

Quinn obeys as the fleet begins attacking the Imperial Fleet. Quinn had ordered fighter pilots to board their starfighters and begin attacking the detachments of Imperial starfighters. As the space battle unfolds, Emperor Aolorth sets his eyes on an Imperial Star Destroyer that began firing and destroying ships in Aolroth's small fleet.

Emperor Aolroth: Quinn! Concentrate fire on that Star Destroyer!

The Grand Admiral obeys as he concentrate the Devastator's fire onto the Imperial Star Destroyer. As the battle between the two ships intensifies, a bombing squad of starfighters bomb the Imperial Star Destroyer's bridge, destroying it. The rest of the Imperial Fleet is destroyed, Darth Aolroth launched the ground invasion of Korriban with Darth Aolorth personally leading the invasion. The Emperor gets onto a ship with Darth Xhax and Shadow Squadron.

Emperor Aolroth: Are you ready for glory?

Darth Xhax: Every Sith I see shall be slaughtered!

Pierce: Shadow Squadron won't let you down sir!

As the ship takes off, Emperor Aolroth mentally prepares himself for the battle. When the ship lands in the outskirts leading to the Sith Academy, the battle between Imperial forces and Aolroth's forces engaged in an intense and bloody battle. Emperor Aolroth turns to his apprentice.

Emperor Aolroth: Xhax! Take Shadow Squadron and push into the Sith Academy! Clear out any Imperial Forces you find!

Emperor Aolroth cuts through the Tomb of Tulak Hord. As he cuts through the Imperial Forces within the Tomb, Emperor Aolroth gets memories of his trial to become Darth Jahl's apprentice. He remembers fighting and killing Elron as a Sith Acolyte all those years ago. He was boy then. But now he was an Emperor far past his youthful prime. Despite his age, he still cut through Imperial troopers and Sith warriors with ease. At the center of the Tomb, he sees Overseer Tremel with several Sith Acolytes. The two exchange an intense and cold stare before confronting each other.

Emperor Aolroth: Overseer Tremel.

Tremel: Darth Aolroth. It is a shame that we face here this way. Fate is truly a cruel thing isn't it?

Emperor Aolroth: It truly is.

Darth Aoroth coldly answers with regret as he activates his lightsaber. Tremel gave a nod to the Acolytes to attack the Emperor, but are quickly cut down with absolute ease.

Tremel: Even in your age the Dark Side remains strong. For us both.

Emperor Aolroth: Now it comes down to this. You and me.

Tremel: You may have betrayed the Empire, I still hold respect for you. But our loyalties differ. Know this acolyte, it will give me no pleasure to kill you.

Tremel says with regret as he activates his lightsaber.

Emperor Aolroth: I will make your end quick and painless. That is the least I can do.

After a brief stare down, Darth Aolroth and Overseer Tremel clash blades. The flurry of their crimson blades flash as they continue to clash. Tremel lands a grazing hit to Aolroth's eye, scaring him. Darth Aolroth uses Force Lightning to stun Tremel and land a fatal blow to his former teacher. As he falls to his knees, Tremel looks to his former acolyte with sorrow and regret.

Tremel: Such power.......you never cease to amaze me. I'm sorry that it must end like this.

Emperor Aolroth looks to his former teacher. The sorrow and regret was clear in his eyes.

Emperor Aolroth: I am only here because of you. If it weren't for you, I'd be dead. I thank you for all your wisdom and your teachings Overseer. I wish it didn't have to end this way. You fought bravely, Overseer. Like a true Sith. Die with your head held high.

Tremel: Farewell Acolyte.

Tremel gave his final goodbye as Emperor Aolroth finished his former teacher off. Looking upon the corpse of his former teacher gave him neither satisfaction nor pride. It only gave him sorrow for having to kill someone he had admired as both a teacher and a Sith. This was one of the few kills Emperor Aolroth committed in his long life that has given him regret. As he walked to the exit of the Tomb of Tulak Hord, he glanced over at Tremel's corpse one final time.

Emperor Aolroth: Farewell, Overseer.

That was all the Emperor could say as he exited the Tomb and into the entrance of the Sith Academy.
