The Zombie

Netty's POV ~

I heard a scream.

I turned my head. I looked at Natalia screaming.

A zombie was walking towards her.

I didn't even think.

I ran as fast as I could. I grabbed a sword leaning up against the cabin and slashed the zombie's head off.

I dropped the sword and I ran to Natalia.

She was screaming.

" It's ok Nat, It's ok I promise." I Picked her up and carried her behind a tree were she couldn't see the zombie's body. " Nothing's going to hurt you Nat I promise." I said as I rocked her back and forth.

" I want mummy.." she said between sobs.

" Okay Nat we'll go now." I said. I grabbed her bow and ran. I ran as fast as I could though the portal and down to Salem's House. I knocked on the door.

I began crying. I didn't look after her like I said I would.

Salem answered.

" What happened?!" she asked taking Nat into her arms.

" A zombie tried to attack her. it didn't hurt her I killed it but she witnessed me do it." I sobbed " I'm so sorry Salem I didn't look after her"

I sat on the floor up against the wall and cried. I felt terrible. I heard Tom and Squid come inside.

" Netty what happened?!" Tom and squid asked at the Same time. I couldn't deal with it. I had to leave.

I stormed out and ran away down the beach. I couldn't stop crying. I collapsed on the sand.

I can't believe that happened.

How am I supposed to look after my own children if I can't even look after someone else's for a couple of hours!

I heard Tom and Squid come up behind me.

" Netty, you looked after her, she's not hurt, you did the right thing. " squid said putting his hand on my shoulder.

" It's not squid" I sobbed " That zombie could have killed her!"

" But it didn't Netty! ". Tom yelled " you saved her!"

I knew what Tom was saying was right but I just didn't want to believe it. I promised I'd look after her and I didn't.

" Come back to the house Netty, she's calmed down now." squid explained " come talk to her please."

" I can't" I cried " not now"

I got up and ran home. I ran upstairs and laid on my bed with the face in my pillow. I heard Tom come inside and sit down next to me. he rubbed my back.

" It's ok Netty" I heard him say.

" It's not Tom" I said as I sat up " its just..."

He interrupted me by putting his lips against mine. I felt my fear and nervousness be washed away.

" You looked after her Netty" he said

" Ok, ok I believe you but I'm not going to see her if that's what your playing at" I said " I can't "

" Why " he asked

" I've scarred her mind, Tom, she watched me cut a Zombies head off" I sobbed " SHE'S SIX!"

" Then don't " he said " we will work our west up to it ok?" He said hugging me tightly.

" Okay " I replied.
