Natalia's First Shot

Today was The Triplets 6th Birthday.

I was going to take Natalia to the shooting range for the first time. I grabbed her bow and wrapped it up in pink paper. Tom wrapped up two foam swords for the Boys. He couldn't really teach them swords skills yet be he promised he would teach them when they're older.

" Do you think she'll like it?" I asked Tom.

" She'll love anything you give her Netty." he replied.

I grabbed my bow and attached it to my backpack. Then when headed over to Salem and Squid's House. we knocked on the door and waited patiently. Soon Salem answered.

" Hello!" Salem said. "come in!"

I walked inside to see 3 kids sitting on the floor surrounded by ripped wrapping paper and toys.

" NETTY!" I heard Natalia squeal. I looked down to she her wrapped around my legs again. I lent down and picked her up. " Happy Birthday!" I said to her. " I have a special present for you!"

" REALLY?!!" She yelled.

" YEP!" I yelled back.

I carried her into the lounge room and sat her down next to squid. he was playing with the boys and there new toy trucks. " hey boys!" I heard Tom say " I have something for you both!"

He knelt down on the ground and sat down a package. The boys ripped it open furiously.

" Wooaahhhhh!" they said together " Look dad we have swords like you! "

They stood up and began battling.

" They are only foam ones, when your older ill get you some real ones and you and your dad will teach you how to use them!" Tom said happily.

" Thankyou Uncle Tom!" Liam said

" Ok boys come outside before you break something!" squid said with a smile on his face. the boys quickly followed him outside. Tom followed behind as well.

Natalia looked at me with her big blue eyes. " do you want your present!?" I asked her " yes please!" she squealed. I opened my backpack and pulled out a pink package. I passed it to her. she quickly opened it and pulled out the bow.

She squealed with happiness.

" A BOW! A REAL BOW!" she yelled

" Do you like it?" I asked. she ran over and hugged me. " I love it!" she said.

She stood back and looked at it. Why does it look purple?" she asked.

" It's enchanted, it has something called infinity which means you can never run out of arrows." I answered

Salem looked at me. " you didn't have to enchant it, you've spoiled her Netty!"

" It's fine, she practically my niece!" I said " anyway I made it but Lee enchanted it, you can thank him"

" You've still done too much Netty!" she insisted

" I have another surprise, that is, of your mother is ok with it?" I said

" What's that?" Salem asked.

" I was wondering if I could take her to the shooting range?" I asked

" In the second world?" she asked

" Yes..." I replied

Salem paused. she was thinking.

" Well, I guess it's ok...." she answered " but you have to promise me that you will stay with Netty The entire time" she said.

" Ok mum!" she said

" Promise?"

" Promise!" she said. " I'm going to show daddy!" she said as she ran outside.

" I'll look after her Salem, likes she's my own daughter." I assured her.

" I know you will Netty" she replied

I followed Natalia outside.

" Daddy!" she yelled " look what Netty got me! A bow, a real one!" she squealed.

" Really!.." he said. he looked at me.

" I'm taking her to the shooting ground as a present. I'm going to teach her to shoot so she can defend herself." I explained.

" Oh ok." he said to Natalia " be good for Netty!"

" I will" she replied

She gave him a quick hug and then she ran inside. " Can we go now Netty?!" she asked excitedly. " if its ok with you mum." I said

" Sure, go! but stay with Netty and be good" she said to Natalia.

" I will mum!" She squealed as she grabbed my hand. " lets go! lets go! "

" Ok, ok, tell Tom I've gone and I won't be back for a bit please Salem" I asked as I walked out the door.

Natalia grabbed my hand as we walked down the road. She began skipping so I skipped with her.

I remembered how Rachel and I used to skip like that. We had so much fun when we were little girls. I hadn't seen Rachel in a long time.

" Where are we going?" Natalia asked

" Through here!" I said pointing to the white fuzzy portal.

" What's....s that?" she asked

" It's a portal, to another world" I answered " your going to be the youngest person to Ever go through there"

" I'm scared, I don't want to.." she whimpered. I picked her up and hugged her. " you'll be fine, I promise " I assured her. " I was scared the first time too but I realised it was fine after my first trip."

She dug her head into my shoulder. I stepped through the portal and went to the second world.

" Open your eyes Nat, we're here!"

She cautiously lifted her head up of my shoulder. Her eyes went wide in amazement.

" See...." I told her. " its fine"

" Wow.." she said.

" Follow me!" I said as I put her back on the ground and grabbed her hand.

We ran. she began to laugh. I held her hand and we ran. I felt like she was my own daughter.

We turned around the corner into the opening. I felt a feeling of calm rush over me.

" Wowwwww!" Natalia squealed.

" Come here " I said.

I pulled a target of a close tree and placed it on the ground. I walked over to Natalia.

" Do you think you can shot that?" I asked her.

" Maybe " she said holding up her bow.

She held it up and pulled back the string. She let it go and it flew straight into the ground in front of the target.

She frowned.

"Like this." I said to her lifting her arms up. " keep your arms up straight and aim slightly above where you want to hit."

I picked up my bow and aimed at the target and released.

Bullseye.

I keep shooting, every target hitting every one in the centre.

Until I was interrupted....

With a scream...
