I actually don't like this ship but I am barely okay with it at times.
I read a fan fiction that Garnet got together with him after giving him a chance. She becomes pregnant and gives birth to their daughter who has both of Ruby and Sapphire's gemstones. I liked it along with the storyline and it was only a few chapters (like at least a dozen, I believe).
So I don't like the ship too too much. It's okay but it's just not an overall favorite.
