Another Nightfury {toothless X Reader}

Drako had been notified of the new nighfury's state but continued with his ways. It seemed as if his way wasn't working on midnight but even he didn't know another way that would work for him, he wasn't a dragon friend and it was all he knew or wanted to know.

The men were regularly reatreting from the caves to get away from the noise, it was both painful to their ears but it also hurt to hear it... As if they were human cries.

(location: the ocean)

The sun was high in the sky and the ocean was a blue as it would ever be while a young girl and her dragon raced just above the water.

Amber gently patted skye as they were mere seconds away from reaching midnight's location.

And there it was, the large dark island in wich many dragons were held.... Drako's Fort. It was big, dark and it looked violent, deadly... But most of all quiet.

There was no man to be seen nor dragon, it meant they had no fear of being attacked when having their lunch wich was very good for Amber.

Amber gently guided skye down to a cave in wich they landed. "cmon girl, show me the way alright" she said to her dragon who began to follow the directionnof the scent.

After a few minutes of searching they reached the lower caves where they began to hear the dragon cries. It was awful, Amber could see the drastic change of facial expression on skye. She was sad and scared.

Amber Comforted her dragon, gently patting her cheek before slowly following the sound of the cries, making sure she was cautious of guards popping up, although it seemed unlikely.

Amber grabbed a torch, the cries becoming louder and louder until they suddenly stopped.

Amber carefully looked around the corner, staring into the midnight blue eyes of a nightfury.

I looked to Amber, the scent of hiccup... Astrid... Toothless... Meatlug, it was all over her.

Amber hurries overbto the cage and kneeled down beside it "it's OK girl... I'm going to get you out of here" she said, reaching out with her hand a little.

Amber was worried and acted without thinking since I could've simply bitten her hand off if I didn't trust her.

I looked at her hand and leaned forward a little to let her touch my nose.

She smiled at me, relaxing a little as she was relieved to have my trust.

Skye came around the corner as well and forced Amber to step back as she used her powerful jaw to rip the cage door open.

Amber slowly crouched in and kneeled besides me, gently petting my head. I didn't know if I could fully trust her, but anything was better than this.

I slowly moved my head and laid it on her lap. She giggled a bit, it was new to her and she loved this kind of new experience. "it's alright girl, me and skye will save you" she said.

Skye was mostly quiet, she was never very talkative to other dragons but she made gestures. She'd nod her head or shake her head with a certain expression so that everyone would know what she thought or felt.

Suddenly a thump could be heard. Amber jumped up suprised and looked at skye "come out foolish girl and I will be merciful" a voice said.

Amber slowly stepped forward, it was her only choice since the voice belonged to no one other than.... Drako himself.

She looked at him as she came around the corner, he had his staff ready.

Amber looked at skye and nodded at her.

"it was a mistake to come here, your dragon wil be mine" Drako said, smirking with a twisted smile.

"NOW" Amber Said and skye lunges forward at Drako. Unfortunately it was a futile attempt, Drako swung his staff and pinned down the windknasher, rendering it unconscious.

"now that was an even bigger mistake" he said, taking a few steps forward towards the girl. Amber gulped, looking up at the scary man.

Drako lifted his staff and as he swung it down, all Amber could see was black.

As her vision slowly returned, Amber's eyes widened and her jaw dropped. She stared at the sight before her where midnight had pinned Drako down. His staff was flung away and he was at her mercy now.

The weak, strong dragon growled at the man. I looked into his eyes, opening my Jaws while Drako closed his eyes, expecting a plasma blast, but what came was an even bigger surprise.

"NOOOOOOOO" was all that could be heard in the caves. I yelled at the top of my lungs at drako. There had been enough death, and I could not let him hard the dragon or girl that came to save me.

"h-how...." drako and Amber said in unison. Amber slowly walked up to my side and carefully placed her hand on my neck. It was a relief to have someone at my side right now.

Amber pulled out her sword and used the handle to knock drako out. She had no words for him but killing him wasn't an option for her.

She looked to me and smiled proudly. I looked into her eyes and felt myself swaying a little before collapsing against her, loosing consciousness.

(half a day later)

It had been a full day since Amber left, not a single person knew if Amber would be able to do it but they had hope she would.

Hiccup sat on the edge of the docks, looking into the water while toothless laid next to him. He wanted to do something but e was completely at a loss of what to do.

Astrid walked up behind hiccup and sat down besides him, gently patting toothless before pulling hiccup in for a hug "it's alright hiccup, Amber will be back in no time together with midnight" she said, but it was only for comfort, anyone could hear she wasn't sure either.

"i know... I just can't stop to think I'm powerless to do anything" he said, sighing a little.

Astrid looked into the water and gulped "hiccup... Look" she said, pointing at the water where they could see the reflexion of Amber and skye, carrying midnight.

They both looked up along with toothless who seemed happy but worried at the sight of a limp midnight.

They quickly got on toothless and made their way over to the town centre where the gang had gathered, they had also seen Amber coming back.

Along with the gang almost the whole island came out since it was the 2nd Last nightfury alive.

Amber looked down at the crowd and gently dropped midnight in the middle, looking to hiccup as she landed with a small smile and a hidden sadness behind it.
