"Thank you Shadow." He nodded and returned his wrings to his wrists and ankles. "Princess, we need to leave immediately." I nodded and got on one of the dead robots. "Everyone move for the exit!" Knuckles yelled a reply. "But the bots are still active!" "We don't have time! There's too many of them!" Everyone followed my orders. The door was slowly closing, and I was the first to make it. I stood at the door, helping everyone crawl under quickly. "Go go go!" After everyone was out, I followed, barely missing the door. We ran for cover, hiding before the bots saw us. Thankfully, we all made it into the the woods without being seen.

(Sonic POV)

After I decided we were deep enough in the forest, I gently set Aileana down. I had to make sure we weren't being followed. I layed her against a tree, making sure she wouldn't fall over. The sight of what Robotnik had done to her was disgusting. I was informed about her ear and her cracked eye, but this was a lot worse. Both her ears were missing, the glass on her left eye shattered. She had sparks coming out of her ears and her eye. She had dents all over her chest, and her arms had scratches. 

My stomach sank thinking about what had happened to her the short while she was there. I stood up after a little while, trying to get the awful thoughts that were swirling in my mind. Reluctantly, I backed up from her and jumped into the tree she was under. I was hoping to chaos the others didn't need me. I looked around, seeing someone flying towards me. I squinted my eyes, then opened them in confusion when the figure became clear. "Ray?"

He flew into the tree I was at, landing a few branches below me. "Ray, what are you doing here? I thought you were told to stay at Knothole with the others." He gave me a sheepish smile. "Yeah, but Tails wanted one of us to check on how it was going, since he can't." "So-o-o-o-niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiic-c-c-c-c......" The glitching voice got both Ray and I's attention. We looked down to see Aileana trying to move and call for me. Ray looked at me, then we both jumped to the ground. 

I got in Aileana's vision, or what was left of it. She looked at me, and I will never forget her face. The fear in her eyes, the need for comfort, all of it in her one glance. I gently held her, and she held onto me, like her life depended on it. Her voice box was definitely broken, as she tried to talk, but only patches of glitchy words were making their way out of her mouth. "Is she gonna be okay Sonic...?" I looked down at her shaking figure, her cries making the guilt of not being there hurting me more. I looked at Ray with a small smile. "She'll be fine.."
