"hey Soda" I smiled.
"Take a break, Johnnycake and Ponyboy will look after him." He motioned for me to come in the hallway so I did.
Johnny and Pony took my place in the hospital room.
I sat down in the waiting room with Soda.
"Who did this to him?" I knew the answer but I didn't want to.
Soda sighed. "Maria, you should go home and get some rest and-"
"No I need to know." I felt my eyes start watering.
He looked around but he eventually decided not to avoid telling me. He licked his lips before beginning.
Flashback
Dally's POV
Me Pony and Johnny decided to go cause shit in town. We did the usual.
"Hey, I'm going to get a chocolate bar." Ponyboy walked into the convenient store and Johnny followed.
"I'll stay out here." I stated.
I walked around for a few minutes. A few Socs came out, maybe 5 or 6. They had blades and one had a heater.
They all surrounded me. To my surprise, Grayson and Ethan weren't included in this group of Socs. But Bob was.
"What do we have here?" Bob laughed. He reeked of alcohol. "Where's your girl? Huh?"
"Ah what's it to you Bob? Go home." I spit.
He laughed and the others followed.
"Are you really getting soft? That's what I'm hearin these days. I can't imagine the Dallas Winston being a softy."
I clenched my jaw and my hands became fists. I was not soft.
"Getting mad, are we?" He taunted.
"You watch yourself Bob. You ain't nothin without all your mustangs and money."
He grew angry.
"Listen here Winston. You ain't nothin without your girl. Let's see what happens when we take her away." My fist came in contact with his face and he stumbled back.
Before I could do anything he pulled out the heater and shot my arm.
End of flashback
"So it wasn't Grayson." I sighed in relief.
"Maria you should say goodnight and then go home. It's late, he'll be okay here I promise."
"Yeah but will I be okay alone at my place? I feel safe with Dally." I said in all honesty.
Sodapop's face changed a bit. He changed his facial expression when he realized I was studying it.
"Come crash at our place." He suggested and I nodded in agreement.
I walked back over to Dally. "Goodnight Baby." I kissed his cheek and turned back to walk away. Before I could leave I felt him grab my hand. I squeezed his hand. "I'll be back tomorrow."I whispered before leaving.
