"Awsten, if you don't behave today so help me you'll be in big trouble."
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm not a kid anymore. I'm 18. But of course you wouldn't know that because you sent me away when I was 10.", I sneered. It was true, I haven't seen her in 8 years and the only reason I was sent back is because my dad got a new job and couldn't take me with him.
She was about to say something, but I just rolled my eyes and opened the car door making my way out. I closed it shut going to the front doors of the building.
"Awsten! Get back here!", my mom yelled opening her door, but I just kept walking in.
As I made my way inside I wasn't completely surprised. Of course, I knew how a church looked like. It's just I never actually went into one. As I walked further inside I was stopped by a boy that probably was around my age with swoopy hair and blue eyes.
"Good morning! Would you like to make a donation to help the church grow its community?", he said with a smile on his face looking down at a clipboard. He smile quickly dropped when he saw me and noticed my clothes.
"Umm no thank you.", I say. I honestly had no money on me so I couldn't give this guy money even if I wanted to.
"Oh okay. That's alright. Are you here for the service?", he asked looking at me confused.
I nodded making him seem a little uncomfortable. "Oh well okay, enjoy the service.", he said stepping aside letting me walk past him. I made it to the aisles? Benches? I don't know, but I had no idea where to sit. I decided just sitting at the one closest to the back. I sat and scrolled through my phone until I heard a familiar voice.
"Have you seen my son, Geoff?", I immediately groaned knowing it was my mom looking for me.
"You have a son, Ms. Knight? I did see someone I've never seen before walk in. Does he have purple hair?". I heard a small silence probably from my mom nodding until he spoke up again. "Oh, he went inside already!", I rolled my eyes.
Of course I went inside. My mom literally saw me walk in.
"Okay, thank you Geoff!", I heard my mom's voice coming closer. I'm in big trouble.
"Awsten!", she loudly whispered. She found me. "Don't think you can just walk away like that. If you're so grown up, why don't you live off on your own yet?". I rolled my eyes she knows why. "You know why. Stop.", I said shutting down this conversation. She knows why I don't move out, but she always brings it back to my face. She huffed and turned her attention towards the front.
I sighed as the ceremony started completely hating life at the moment. At least that's what I thought until I felt someone's eyes on me.
I turned my direction towards the person and noticed it was that boy with the hair and blue eyes. Once my eyes met his, he quickly turned his head to the front acting as if he wasn't just looking at me.
I smirked to myself knowing exactly how to make these church visits fun. Geoff.
