well, it was sort of overdue, i think... oops?

RECAP: "Oi," he hissed at both of his best friends. "She's off limits."

With every new day, it got closer to the next full moon, to the next time that Remus would lose himself and be replaced by a monster.  That's all that continued to run through his mind— he drowned in all the self doubt and loathing he placed upon himself.

No matter how much his friends stuck with him, supported him, helped him and told him that they didn't judge him, Remus would always have some sort of negative opinion about his lycanthropy; or as James liked to say, his 'furry little problem'.

"I have to leave in three days," he constantly told James and Sirius that day. They knew that the time when the moon would become a perfect silver orb was soon approaching, although they didn't dread it just as much as Remus.

"No you don't, you can stay here. We have that shack in the forest, remember?" James said to Remus in reply.

"Yes, but— James, your sister doesn't know about my... problem," Remus swallowed. He didn't want to get in the way of the Potters' cheerful time together. He always felt like such a burden to them, no matter how much they tried to assure him that it was no problem at all. "Besides, I don't want to—"

"What?" James raised his eyebrows, just as SIrius joined them, a mug of Mrs Potter's hot cocoa in his hands. "What Moony? You don't want to be a burden?"

James scoffed when Remus ducked his head and nodded. Sirius, who had just caught on to what they were discussing, pursed his lips and looked meaningly at his scarred friend.

"And as for my sister," said James. "She won't judge you if she did know, I can tell you that, mate."

So Remus thought it best to just admit defeat. They had, had this conversation multiple times, and he never won— the other two always insisted on keeping him company as animals.

"You look horrible, Remus," y/n said, entering the kitchen for lunch. And indeed, he looked sickly pale, his hands shook violently when he lifted them and he was on the verge of letting his breakfast come back up. The green tinge his face had picked up brought out his scars even more so, and they almost shone in the harsh sunlight.

"What a nice thing to say, dear sister..." Y/n rolled her e/c eyes at her twin, who had entered alongside his unbiological other half, Sirius.

"But seriously—" Sirius smirked, and y/n gave him a look. "You look ghastly. D'you want some soup?" Remus shook his head. He appreciated the gesture, but he felt as if he might throw the soup right back up if he ate.

The day of the full moon was always the worst— he felt nauseous, weak and completely out of it, all at the same time. Remus' eyelids felt heavy, and they suddenly drooped closed of their own accord.

"Oi, y/n... a little help, please?" Sirius winced, as him and James tried to carry a passed out Remus up the stairs. Remus, who was still out cold, was wincing and twitching away from the two boys when they touched a wound or reopened scar.

Y/n helped the boys carry Remus up the steep stairs, up to the guest room Remus was occupying. They laid him on the soft mattress, where he stopped moving, his chest only rising and sinking as he took ragged, uneven and struggled breaths.
