Oh my Goddess.
I had killed Junux.
I stood there in shock.
She was dead.
No.
She couldn't be.
How do you check whether or not someone is alive?
Think, Myope, think.
Then another voice entered my head. It was mine, but not.
DR ABC, Cass, Danger, Response, Airways, Breathing, and Circulation.
My eyes widened in realisation.
I knelt down by Junux's side.
"Junux," I said, "can you hear me? If you can, open your eyes, okay?"
Nothing.
I tried shaking her.
Nothing.
I then opened her mouth to see if the airway had been blocked by her tongue or something.
No. That was all fine.
I placed my head sideways above her face with my face looking at her chest.
There was nothing.
Nothing at all.
Until, I saw the slight rise of her chest as slowly and painfully breathed in and I felt a small, warm breath as she breathed back out.
She was still alive.
Alive.
But in a critical condition.
I gently looped her arm around my neck and carried her out if the restaurant. We had just made it into an alley not very far from where we started before Junux started to cough violently.
I sat her down and rubbed her back.
Once the outbursts of violent coughs were over, Junux said, "Where are we? Where are we going? What happened?"
"We're in an alleyway not far from Allit's and we're heading back to the school." I spoke the first words that I have ever spoken. I think.
Junux suddenly sat up at that and winced.
"We can't go back," she said in a voice that I was barely able to hear.
I raised an eyebrow.
"Why can't we go back?" I asked.
Junux shook her head and tried to get up, but she failed immediately.
I sighed before I grabbed her arm and helped her limp to God knows where.
"Why can't we go back, Junux?" I repeated as I walked and she limped. "Why aren't you telling me?"
Junux just kept her eyes on her feet and continued to limp.
"Fine, keep your secrets,"
And we walked on, away from the school.
