It doesn't have to be sad.

All I can hear is the sound of laughter. Everyone is here for me

They are here to see me, see what I can do. I have to do this

I peek around the curtain

Oh wow there are so many people here. I'm starting to feel sick

What if I can't do this. What if they all laugh at me

The time comes. The moment makes itself known

And it's time to walk

The door opens. I can't stall anymore

I walk down the hall. There's so many people here

Are they looking at me? They're looking at me aren't they

I feel their eyes. They're staring, laughing, judging

Push open the door, get out of the car

I'm already here, no going back, no choice

This will be good, no matter how scary.

I shut the car door with a bang, and

Head over to the lawn.

Yank out the sign, this is my home now

The curtain opens and the applause starts. I haven't

Even done anything yet and they clap. Waiting for what I have

To show. I start to speak, all is quiet

I can't help but smile

I feel like I could laugh.

I look around the hall, no one

Is looking at me, I see the

Fear on their faces too. I see

A boy my age that looks down I

Walk over.

"Hi to you" A smile

"Hi to you too" A laugh.

I turn to face the street

A door opens in the house across the way

A hello is shouted. A 'welcome to the neighborhood, newbie' followed by

A smile, A laugh.
