The slam, bang, bam, *
of the screen door shutting
gathering us outside in the starlight.
A sky speckled with the gold*
and silver glitter of lights so
far away, I can't ever know.
I wish
I could just touch those stars.
I can't remember how long we stayed out there.
You sang the flowers and the moon and the sunright into my eyes
And I laughed and I danced
I danced on dynamite. *
My heart bound to explode, to break,
but not now, not
here.
And when the light grew too hard to find,
We kindled a fire of our own.
A summer night never to end.
Flame inside our soul,
Flame lighting up the world
A chorus of sound, of song, of laughter
Of us. Of what we never wanted to end.
Of what we never wanted to
forget.
Forget. Forget. None of us could ever forget
What it felt like to sing under the sky
When the only eyes who watched were the bats
just stretching wings waking from long lazy naps
to join the beauty of the night
when the day had faded to black.
To be freer than,
nothing,
and anything,
and everything.
To know what love was when really it wasn't love.
But that's ok.
We had the breeze
We had the wishes we made when
We beat the stars to the sky and caught them right
In their magic.
And no one forgets magic.
