*thud*...*thud thud thud*
It's 5:00 a.m., and Denki Kaminari was out in his garage, training with his punching bag. Denki grunted as he hit the bag; right jab, left jab, right cross, left cross, upper cross, kick, repeat. He had been training since 4:00, and he was sweating absolute buckets. As he silently- or as silent as punching can go - trained, he thought of his future plans and where his career might end up. Of course, as a regular up-and-coming 1st year student and a possessor of a pretty strong quirk, he hoped to end up in the best academy for future heroes, U.A. High School. But, as always with life, he had to overcome great disadvantages to get to his dreams. Denki started to mercilessly pound the punching bag in anger as he remembered his past experiences. He was never the smartest in his classes, in fact he was almost below average when it came to school, and because of this he was always told how impossible it would be to get into U.A. Of course, he covered up his feelings with his signature smile and shot back with "Watch me.". But despite his usually friendly demeanor, it made his blood boil when people decided it was their place to judge someone else's future. "I'll show them all," he thought,"I'll prove them all WRONG!!". With his last thought, Denki mustered a huge amount of electricity into his fist and punched a hole through his punching bag. The bag was torn from its wire on the ceiling and landed on the floor. He stood in his attack stance for a while, then relaxed, taking big, deep breaths to calm himself. Denki walked over, picked up the bag, and threw it onto a pile of broken punching bags. "Number 15 in 2 months, huh?" a voice called. Denki looked at the doorway to see his aunt smiling at him. "Oh, good morning, Aunt Shizu." Denki replied, smiling apologetically at her. "Sorry for the mess." Aunt Shizu waved this off, "Don't worry kid, I'll buy you as much as you need so you can improve. Now finish up training and get in the shower by 6:15 so I can drive you to U.A. to take the entrance exam.". She opened the garage door and walked back into the house. As Denki put on his running shoes, track jacket, and earphones and took off running, Aunt Shizu looked at him leave with a mix of sadness and pride. "He would have made you proud, dear sister." she mused as a photo of Denki and his parents stood on her tabletop.

Kyoka Jirou woke up pretty early today with a case of nerves. As the rising sun filled her room with a pleasant warm light, she looked on her calendar and saw ENTRANCE EXAM written in red on the current date. She gulped in nervousness and got up, stretched, and walked to the kitchen. She ate a breakfast omelette which her mother had prepared the night before, drank some water, and brushed her teeth. Kyoka walked from the bathroom over to her acoustic guitar that hung on the wall, walked outside, and started to strum small tunes that she made up on the fly. She loved this; the quiet atmosphere of the early morning, the soft light of the slow sunrise, and cool temperature of dawn. It soothed her into a meditation state of mind. As she played, Kyoka remembered all her struggles to get accepted into U.A., all the hours of both physical and mental training while maintaining the best grades. One thing was certain, she was tough, to the point to where all the boys at her school thought she was one of them. As always in life, she had her own problems in life. Her parents, although supportive of her efforts, disliked, no, HATED, the fact she was entering into a dangerous career path as a hero, even more so her grandparents. There were many long nights of just her and her dad just shouting back and forth while their mother cried. She remembered the looks of disdain, disgust, and disapproval she got from her grandparents. After all the tears, pain, and agony, her parents decided to let her go to U.A, on the condition she pay for the tuition herself. This was a hefty price, as U.A. was a top school, but she did it anyways. Kyoka strummed in frustration as she remembered all of things she had to do to attain finances. Luckily, her aunt, a manager of a branch of a company, let her work despite her age. So Kyoka endured, balancing work, training, and school for year after painstaking year. Kyoka set her guitar down, afraid that she might strum too hard and accidentally break a string, walked to the gate of her house and stepped outside, grabbing the mail when all of a sudden, her earphone jacks picked up the sound of fast paced footsteps coming toward her. Instinctively, she faced the mystery person and used her quirk to send a soundwave toward him. She smiled as the man was blown backward and on to his back. "Not today." she thought in deep satisfaction.
Denki groaned as he slowly sat up from his lying position on the pavement. While running, Denki spotted his longtime friend, Kyoka Jirou. They knew each other because Denki's aunt and Kyoka's parents were great friends from school. Kyoka's house also was placed along Denki's daily running route, so they made a sort of competition to knock each other over, Kyoka would try knocking him down via her sound waves and Denki by literally running her over. Denki sat on the ground, tying his shoes, "Well, good morning to you too, Jirou." he said, looking up at her, smiling. Kyoka chuckled and walked over to him, offered her hand, and smirked, "You'll have to do way better than than, Pikachu.". She helped him up as Denki dusted off his tracksuit. Kyoka couldn't help but stare in admiration for Denki. For as long as she could remember, from Denki had been training non-stop for the upcoming entrance exams, and it showed, even through his tracksuit. His body was muscular and lean, his legs long and lanky. With the added height, he looked seriously athletic. Kyoka heard a chuckle, and she looked up at his face. His blonde hair with his signature black lightning bolt down the side glistened with sweat in the sunlight, and his yellow eyes sparkled with...is that amusement? And is he smirking? "So, do tell me, does my body really put you speechless?" Denki joked, winking. "I'm flattered by your stares but do keep it down, you're making me blush." Kyoka blushed and pushed him away playfully. "Nah, just thinking how amazing it is to see you're still fat considering you've been training sooooo hard." she shot back sarcastically. Denki laughed it off, "So, are you ready for the entrance exams today?" he asked in a more serious tone. "As ready as I can be, you?" she replied. "Oh, I'm just fine, I think I have a good chance - " Denki was interrupted by his 6:10 alarm. He grew pale, "I'd better go, my aunt told me to get in the shower by 6:15, and I don't know what she'll do if I was late on a day like this." Kyoka laughed at his fear of his own guardian. "Well, get going. I'll see you at the entrance exam." she yelled to a running Denki. Denki spun around, saluted, winked, and, true to his "play-boy" self, blew her a playful kiss before turning back around and running towards his house. Kyoka smiled and leaned against the wall, blushing. She sighed in amusement, then caught herself. "Wait, why am I this comfortable with him? Is it - no it isn't, I couldn't possibly have a crush on Denki Kaminari."
