▌Chapter 2 ─ Credit Card ▌
━━━━━ THE BLONDE REARRANGED her gear, as the sun beat down on her and the others. She came to a stop next to Lennox looking around.
"Let's hope this telephone line works." Lennox spoke, looking around at everyone.
Stephanie placed her items down on the ground but held onto her gun as she, Fig, and Donnelly looked around on guard. The three looked back clueless as to what had just happened. They looked to see the sign laying in the sand.
"What the heck was that?" Donnelly asked.
Stephanie looked away from them walking around the area to see if anything surrounded them. She turned around watching as something made an appearance.
"Whoa!" Epps shouted. Lennox jumped around while everyone else shot the creature.
It disappeared into the sand, everyone else kept shooting their guns while Stephanie halted looking around the robot-like thing.
"Everybody, quiet. Settle." Lennox shouted.
"Whoa, mother... What the hell is..." Epps called out. Stephanie swung her gun around looking for the robot.
"I don't know what that thing was, but it was not human." Stephanie announced, still looking around. She jumped out of the way as the robot came up from the sand. "Donnelly." Stephanie shouted, aiming her gun at the robot and shooting it.
Stephanie followed behind the group running towards the small village. Stephanie jumped over the rocks running with Epps, to take cover. She could hear Lennox ordering the team, but she knew exactly what she had to do. Turning around she moved her gun against the rocks and began shooting at the robot once again. She ducked her head as a blast shot by her.
"Seriously, what the hell is that thing?" She questioned as she still fired her gun.
"I need a credit card!" Lennox shouted running towards her and Epps.
She ignored them, continuing to fire at the robot. She could hear Epps talking to someone on the other end and she only assumed that it had been helped. She ducked down once again as another blast from the robot came flying towards her.
The blast hit some rocks behind her, she turned, watching as a few rocks fell down to the ground. Turning back around she continued to fire her gun. She ducked again as another set of rocks had been knocked down, pulling a clip out of her back pocket she released the other clip allowing it to fall to the ground. Once she had finished reloading her gun she continued to fire at the robot, as it shot back at them.
"Eight-man team north of orange smoke!" She heard Epps yell, soon throwing a smoke grenade. Stephanie followed behind Lennox aiming her gun at the robot, she continued sending fire at the robot.
"Ready! Heat's coming!" Lennox shouted to the team.
Stephanie placed her eye up to the scope that rested on the top of her gun. She continued to shoot at the robot, soon moving back to take cover as the jets began to shoot at it. Missiles had been sent off heading straight for the robot. When the smoke cleared the three looked to see the robot still alive.
"No friggin way that thing's still not down." Lennox said.
"Spooky Three Two, use 105 shells. Bring the rain." Epps told the other line.
More planes came over them and continued to bring the fire down on the robot. When they halted everyone looked watching as the dust cleared. Stephanie followed behind Lennox looking around the area for the robot.
"Where's Fig?" Lennox questioned.
Stephanie turned away running from the group searching for her friend. Lennox was right behind her, the two jumped over the rocks pulling their guns off.
"Get a medic!" Lennox shouted as Stephanie slid on the sand looking at Fig.
"Hang in there, Fig." Stephanie spoke, placing her hands on the side of his cheeks to look at him.
They were able to get Fig onto a small gurney, Stephanie stood by her friend hoping he would make it. The sun had started to set, and a chopper had made an appearance in the distance.
