The witch rode the horse north, threw the desert of the Vinkus, and on to Ugabu. This land has been disputed in Oz since Ozian history began. It has been mainly deserted, Elphaba hoped now more then ever, it still would be.
She stayed along the border just to be safe, it took her much longer to do so, but it was worth the safety it provided. The deadly sands that surround Oz prevent life from moving from the borders on foot, there is a very clear distinction between the land of Oz and the border, but people avoid it just to be safe. As the horse raced along the border of Oz, the witch put a list together of everything she needed to get done. She needed to stay hidden for now. It puzzled her who found out she was alive, when she gets back to Kiamo Ko she has to figure out who gave her the horse, as appreciative she is for it, she couldn't risk them telling any one.
Finally in the Gillikin she slowed her pace, her it would be more crowed and she needed to keep safe. Who knows what the people of Oz would do 600 years after her death. The may hunt her down, and she didn’t need that right now.
When she was close the train tracks that ran threw the Pertha Hills she got off the horse and walked hidden behind its massive body. Once safely across the tracks and close to the mountain she veered back towards the border, she couldn't risk being near the small villages on the front of the mountains, whether they are deserted or not, she wasn’t sure, but she couldn't risk it. Up the back of the mountain she went, it was obviously a road less traveled and maybe never even been explored or mapped other then the casual risk taker.
Once on top of one of the mountains of the Runcible clusters, she took survey of the land and tried to see where exactly the dwellings of the Good Witch was. All the note said was Mount Runcible.
Now more then ever she wished she kept tabs on Glinda, she needed her now, and this vast mountain ridge was not helping the search for the good witch.
She conjured, out of a vine, a spell to help her see far, using the noose looking tool she found it, a dark stone dwelling hidden in the mountain, she probably would have never seen it with out the spell. She mounted the horse and rode on towards it. Hopefully Glinda was their.
Two more hours of riding finally she was at the wall of the castle, she was debating whether she wanted to use the front door or scale the wall; But seeing the wall now, she didn't even think her magic could lift her so far up, not with out a broom, the front door was the only way. She followed the red brick until it bowed with an opening. She stood in front of the castle wall and knocked. As her fist hit the door a second time it opened with ease. The witch was perplexed, and became very uneasy.
She walked into the doors and onto the court yard, small but elegant, she couldn't help but notice how well kept the garden was. She didn’t think Glinda had a green thumb, and never thought she would have the magic to do such beautiful flowers.
Another door greeted her, This time it didn't open on her second Knock. She waited for awhile before knocking again. Another while and the door finally opened. Her eyes took a second to adjust to the dimly light hall, she could see a figure walking towards her, she smiled. Seeing the puff of a hip dress, she knew exactly who it was.
“Oh bless it be! You Wicked thing!” The figure expressed.
“Look at you, still as puffy as ever!” the witch replied.
Glinda came out of the hall and hugged her long lost friend. For a moment Elphaba had forgotten everything that happened to her. Embraced her friend and sighed deeply.
“Its good to see me isn’t?” Glinda said.
“You have no idea.” She replied.
