You couldn't wipe the smile off of my face the whole way home. I hadn't felt like this in ages. I smiled and sighed taking a deep breath, drinking it all in, my shirt was covered in the smell of her perfume. She was amazing and beautiful. Her laugh, her smile, the adorable way she blushed, the way her hand fit in mine and her soft kiss.
I parked my truck and put my head back against the seat. I couldn't help myself and sent a quick text
Hi. Just checking to make sure you got home safely
You are SO sweet. I did. Thank you for checking on me. I assume you made it home alright?
I did. Thank you. Sweet dreams Lilly.
I'm glad. Sleep well Nick.
I smiled heading inside and closing the door with a sigh. It was quiet as a mouse in here. The dog ran up and threw her head against me
"Hey! Let's go to bed!"
She ran down the hall and jumped on the foot of the bed and laid down. I went into the closet and slowly stripped into my boxers. Lindsey was asleep and I didn't want to wake her. I climbed into bed and got comfortable thinking about Lilly.
"Hi" she whispered
"Hey. Go back to sleep."
I smiled kissing her cheek. She cuddled up to me and pulled back with a gasp
"What?" I asked confused
"Why do you smell like women's perfume?"
"Oh I went out to the bar with the guys. And this drunk girl kept falling all over me. I ended up leaving and going to the Galleria to pick out a bear for Abby."
"That sucks. No shower?"
"Lindsey I'm so tired. I'll do it in the morning. Alright?"
"Fine."
She huffed turning away from me and pulling the blankets up to her chin. I rolled my eyes and sighed getting out of bed and taking a shower. I dried off, put on new boxers and crawled back into bed. Lindsey instantly cuddled up to me and I pulled her close with an annoyed sigh. I closed my eyes and smiled drifting off to sleep thinking about Lilly.
"Nick! Nicholas!!"
I gasp and woke with a start. Lindsey looked at me confused and set Abby down on the bed with a sippy cup.
"Jesus Nick. What's going on with you? It's nearly noon."
"Sorry. I guess I was exhausted. What's going on?"
"Nothing." She smiled "its hot outside today. Maybe we should take Abby to the water park or something."
"Uhhh yeah. Yeah sure. Which one?"
"Let's go to Sunsplash."
"Oh? Uhhh yeah. Ok."
"What? Now you don't want to?"
"No it's fine. I'm just trying to wake up"
"I'm going to go grocery shopping. I'm leaving Abby with you."
I sat up and smiled with a nod
"Sounds good."
I waited to hear the front door close and lock before picking up my phone and smiling at the message
Just wanted to say good morning
Good morning to you. Decide what you're going to do today?
