Ten dragonets lined up next to the door in a neat line. Today was the day for the missions. The day that decided if you fail or suceed.
"Barb, Springtail, Gleam, Mint, Haploa, please enter." The five dragonets entered the room and the rest of them watched.
"I hope we do well," Lime said, pacing.
"We will," Iris said. "We've trained for this our whole lives."
"But still. . ." Lime said quietly.
Sapphire yawned and curled up. "As long as you don't drag us down we'll be fine."
"Hey!" Lime protested.
Glasswing and Midnight both sat, watching them. "Well, if he does drag us down, he fails, not us," Midnight pointed out.
"True," Sapphire said, turning her attention back to the door. The five dragonets came back out, talking within themselves. As all five of them went to the armory to get supplies, and only one of them turned to speak to them.
"You might have a harder mission than usual," said Barb, with a slight smile.
Lime shivered. A ripple of a duller green than his usual vibrant one went through his scales. "What does that mean?"
"I dunno," Barb said. "But that's what Maple said."
Sapphire rolled her eyes. "Whatever."
"Midnight, Iris, Sapphire, Lime, Glasswing," said Maple, and they all walked through the door. But Midnight couldn't shake the feeling of dread.
"So, we have an important thing we need to get done, so we decided to use you all," Maple said.
"What?" Iris asked, and the rest of them had the same look of confusion. Lime's scales turned an odd mix of orangy purple and green, the colors for confusion and fear.
"Well, your mission," Maple said with a sly smile, "is to murder the queen of the Rainwings. Queen Glory."
