Aaahhhh I'm so sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been trying to plan out the whole story so it doesn't seem rushed, and then I got caught up with some mental health problems. I will try, but no promises, to finish the book by the end of August.
The brush of wind over Midnight's scales reminded her of where she was. They'd been hiding out in a tree for the last few days, waiting for the excitement to die down, and it had been extremely uninventful. Days of just lying and being bored.
Glasswing as sitting off in the corner, and she couldn't help but notice that he had been staring at her. Midnight remembered the day all too well, and she really thought it would be nice if she could forget it.
The Silkwing quickly looked away when he noticed Midnight.
Crack.
Their heads snapped up situmoneously. She could feel fear emitting from the trees around her.
Iris walked over, silently, and Midnight followed.
A quick flash, and two dragonets were beneath them.
"What the-" Glasswing said.
Midnight recognized them. "Wait, I know you guys. Cepheus? Nightseeker?"
The dragonets jumped, and Nightseeker quickly said something. "I'msorryIdidn'tmeantoIjustwantedtogetawayfromschool."
"What? Do you know them?" Glasswing asked Midnight.
"They're from that Anti-Glory cult," Midnight said.
Cepheus stood up. "We were just leaving school. Bulllies, injuries, you know."
Iris eyed them. Midnight could feel that they weren't lying, and the others knew that.
"Well then," Iris said finally. "You can leave then."
Nightseeker winced. "We can't." He pointed to his wing. "I can't fly."
Cepheus nodded, showing his wings too. "Can we...stay here? Of course not I guess, assasin dragons."
Iris immediately shook her head. "Absolutely not."
Glasswing nodded along with her, and they all turned to Midnight, expecting her to do the same.
But she just couldn't. These dragonets didn't deserve to be just cast out again, even if they were fighting her a few days ago.
She hesitated. "What if they stayed, but just for a little?"
She could sense disbelief coming off her friends. But the gratitude off the dragonets was too much to maker her regret her desicion.
"Fine then," Glasswing muttered. "You can stay, for one night."
I know this is a bit short, but I'll be back to longer chapters soon. Also, the whole Glasswing and Midnight thing will be expanded on soon!
