Sorry about the wait. I really wasn't in the mood for writing the last couple of weeks.
Midnight had to sit down for a moment to sort through all the emotions crowding into her head. On one talon, she was relieved. If even Deathbringer was here trying to kill Glory, maybe she was doing the right thing? But on the other talon, there was the fact that it was Deathbringer. Wasn't he the one who would die for Glory?
Maleo tilted her head at Midnight. "Well, I guess it is a surprise for most dragons."
"How?" Midnight cried. "How?"
Dawntree seemed to think for a moment. "I'll bring you to him actually."
Suddenly, she seemed to remember something. "Oh wait, nevermind. I gotta go do something. I'll get someone else. Wait here."
Dawntree bounced away. Maleo sat back, with a thoughtful expression.
"Are you serious about this?" Midnight asked Maleo. "Deathbringer. Are we talking about the same Deathbringer here?"
She could sense waves of curriosity from Maleo. A thought flashed through her head about her emotion sensing. She usually hated it, thinking it made her "soft." But she was starting to like it.
Seriously? she thought. Now I'm thinking about this? Focus on your mission.
Maleo shrugged. "Someone will explain it."
Midnight growled in anger. She wanted to know. Especially if she knew that Deathbringer had made this choice on his own, that she wasn't evil for trying to go kill Glory.
Dawntree came back, with an odd looking hybrid. "Your not a pure Nightwing," Midnight said immediately.
The hybrid shrugged. "I'm Orcus," he said. "Hive-Night."
Dawntree grinned. "He agreed to bring you to Deathbringer!"
Orcus frowned at her, and then nodded at Midnight. "Well, let's go then."
Midnight nodded at Dawntree and Maleo, then hurried after Orcus.
"Is Deathbringer seriously your leader?" she asked him.
"Well, yeah," he said. "There's a story behind it."
"And the story is."
"Well, he'll tell you. Oh hey Cepheus!"
Is he changing the topic? Midnight glanced over and saw a Nightwing/Rainwing hybrid stading there, frowning.
"Who's that?" Cepheus muttered.
"Midnight," Midnight replied.
"I wasn't talking to you." The hybrid turned back to whatever he was doing, maybe reading?
"Hey, come on, don't be so grumpy," Orcus said. "She's here to help us with our mission."
Our mission? Midnight thought angrily. It's my mission. My chance to prove myself. I didn't even ask to be dragged into this secrect society.
Cepheus shrugged. Midnight caught a vision passing through her mind. These two would be important to her future.
Orcus shrugged, and they kept walking down the hallway. He kept waving and mentioning some dragons whenever their conversation drifted anywhere near the reason Deathbringer was here.
He's definitely hiding something. That was the only thought spiraling through her mind at this point.
She thought it was a bit odd that every single dragon they passed sort of moved out of their way. At one point, a Rainwing that Orcus name Lorikeet seemed to stare at her for a while.
"Why do they look at me like that?" she asked Orcus.
She sensed panic coming off him before he shrugged and said, "Oh look, there's Tigress!"
Suddenly, she snapped. She lunged onto the hybrid, and pinned him down. "What are you hiding?"
Orcus drew a katana that Midnight hadn't even noticed. "Back off," he snarled. "I know how to use this. A dragonet isn't going defeat me."
Midnight reluctantly got off.
"You'll see," was all Orcus said as they continued down the hallway.
Finally, they arrived at a door. Orcus opened it, and Midnight looked at him one final time.
"Thanks," she said, then entered.
And there, sitting in the center of the room, was Deathbringer.
Thanks for everyone on the wiki who let me use their OCs. (If yours was just mentioned here, They'll show up later, I promise).
