Chapter two: Challenging my devotions

(Katy's POV)

"Katy we've looked at over a hundred schools, in 31 states and we haven't found her yet!" Tamra exclaimed as she tugged at her hair in frustration. I wasn't going hear any of it.

"Tam, I don't care if we've looked over a hundred schools, I'm not going to stop until I find her!" I say standing up and putting my hands on her shoulders.

"If you had a daughter, you would do anything for her wouldn't you? And if you vowed and promised you would come and find her, you would do anything to make that promise come true wouldn't you? I said looking to her eyes. She looked defeated.

"Where's are next school stop?" I ask, taking my hands off of Tamra's shoulders.

"Where going to Montana, there's a small high school there and your performing their as well." Tam said reading out all the information on a piece of paper.

I sat down and put my hands on my heads and began to sob.

"Oh Katy..." Tam said putting her hand on my knee as she tried to comfort me. I was sick of being strong, I was sick of not having my daughter in my arms.

"Tam I miss her so fucking much, what if she's forgotten me??" I say in-between loud sobs.

"I know that she hasn't forgotten you cause your always right their for her" Tam said pointing to my heart. I wiped the tears from my eyes and began to breath heavily.

"Now I think we better get some rest, we have to travel to Montana in a couple of hours." Tam said getting up from crouching next to me.

"Okay, see you in a couple of hours then." I say waving a quick goodbye as Tam closes the studio door.

I get up and walk into the recording booth, grab a guitar and begin to play the intro to Unconditionally.

"Oh no did I get to close...." I begin to sing as I imagine my beautiful Pearl's face wondering what she looks like now.........

"Unconditional. Unconditionally I will love you Unconditionally oh yeah!" I sing pouring all my love for Pearl into this last chorus.

I suddenly then decide change the song to 'Pearl'.

Hmm I think I might do this tomorrow.. I think to myself as I begin to sing.

"She could be a Statue of Liberty..."

"She was unstoppable..." I play the last chord of the song catching my breath and wiping the tears that did end up falling from my eyes while playing.

"Wow that was amazing Katy..." I heard the voice of my boyfriend John say as he came in the room clapping his hands together. I smiled at him.

"I have never seen you perform and put so much emotion and feeling in a performance like that. I even recorded it.." John said as he pecked my lips smirking at me.

"You didn't.." I said putting my hands to my head.

"Oh yes I did..don't worry I only sent it to you!" he said pulling me closer to him. I sighed in relief.

"I have to get get some sleep now as I have to get go to Montana in a couple of hours." I said pulling away from John. I could see disappointment in his eyes.

"Okay see you later Kate, love you.." He said kissing my forehead.

"Love you to." I say as I walk out of the studio door and then out of the capitol records building and drive home, wondering if il ever see Pearl again.
