The Road

2 1 1

It feels weird traveling alone, you're forced to seat with a person you never met before, traveling in an enclosed vehicle for hours, no food nor water to digest. Is it really this weird or am I just not prepared?

I am trying to visit my mother in the provice, and the only way to go to her hometown is by car, and if you don't have a car, you could ride a bus.

I went on the bus and sat on the seat right next to the windows, I like seeing the roads and the trees passing by. It feels calming to see how the trees wave at you, as if telling you goodbye.

I asked the bus conductor on the timespan of the whole travel.

"It varies from 30 minutes to an hour, ma'am."

Since I have a lot of time on my hands, I spent it on drawing. I like to sketch on my free time, it keeps me distracted from the handful of strangers traveling with me.

25 minutes have already passed, it already went dark and I am already getting bored with all this traveling. Kept seeing the same scenery over and over again and the same people all this agonizing minutes.

We then went through this road, that is not that lit up. It looks oddly petrifying, yet the lights keep us from feeling this fear of the dark.

I felt sleepy these last minutes, so I decided to rest for a little while. I kept my things in my backpack and proceeded with closing my eyes.

I dreamt of darkness, getting more and more bigger trapping me in a corner until it swallowed my view. I was in this abyss and no one was there to see me. The darkness felt heavy and suffocating.

The fear woke me up. I looked at the window and I am still on the road. Maybe my nap was very short, but the scenery was the exact same the time I fell the sleep. I looked at my watch and realized that a whole hour went by.

I tried to look at the front of the road and saw darkness, as if it is swallowing any light that passes through it. I scanned the insides of the bus and saw that everyone is fast asleep. Except for one figure, who seems to be standing in front of the bus.

It's dark and has this terrifying aura about it. Suddenly, it turned to my direction. Slowly its footsteps getting more and more closer.

*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*

As it comes closer I get more and more sleepier, until I succumbed with the sleep.

I was again in the abyss-like darkness. I tried escaping but it was as quick as lightning. Every move I make, the darkness seems to spread wider and wider until light finally greeted me. I awoke in the hospital.

"Finally, you are awake ma'am."

They said that I was in a coma for several days.

The doctors said that the bus I was in was caught in an accident wherein most of the passengers are induced in a coma.

"It was a miracle how many survived the accident." Some say.

Still, I remember the figure I saw while on the bus. It felt like it wasn't an accident, as if it was on purpose. Then out of nowhere, I heard it again.

*Tap* *Tap* *Tap*

The creak of the hospital door broke the silence.
