A thirteen year old girl's POV

"Freak!" Another egg was thrown at me and this time it hit my skirt. Mum's going to be in rage when she sees this. I tried avoiding the eggs, rocks and sticks being thrown at me by running as fast as I can and shielding myself whatever's on my way. So far, a rock was thrown at my head (it was hurting a lot), a stick on my bag and then there's the egg on my skirt.

Apparently, going through the park as a shortcut to my house was a bad idea. These druggies ambushed me there. They learned about what I did.

"Run, you weirdo! We're behind you!" I heard them shout. I looked behind me and I saw them ready to throw again.

"Whoa!" I stopped at the edge of the pavement where it meets the busy road. I stood on one foot, the other almost stepping onto the road. A man who grabbed me by my bag, tugged me in and prevented a horrible deadly accident.

I took a step back and turn around. The man looked at me with curiosity. His eyes were different colours.

sectoral heterochromia - different eye colors; blue, green and a hint of yellow

"Got ya, you little monster!"

Out of alarm and stupidity, I hid myself behind the tall man. I heard a small thump and saw that he caught a rock by his side.

"Get out of the way, mister. We have some undone business with her."

"Do you know what you're doing is against the law? Trashing around, disruptive behaviour, and bullying," he told them.

He raised his chin confidently. "You could be detained in juvenile prison because of this."

My three schoolmates stood at least two meters away from me and the man, and they got more irritated.

"You don't know what she did! She's worse!" They told the him.

"Hmm," the man hummed and his baritone voice coming out. "Let me guess? She outsmarted you."

He studied them. "Your pride is very high just like your mind. You intake drugs a few hours ago. You like fights, nevertheless starting them. IQ of below average, pathetic. Skipping classes, causing trouble, not to mention taking drugs."

They became quiet.

"Now this girl," he stepped aside to show me, "knew all your wrongdoings and reported to the headmaster. You were called to the office today and later on, you found out she was the reason behind it. And here you are now, chasing and throwing eggs, rocks and sticks at her, just for revenge.

"Witless year seven's with no better to do in life," He finished and all fell silent.

I glanced at him and saw his serious face, jaw clenched and eyes narrowed. It surprised me a little there's someone who does all the observation and deduction skills like me.

The three in front of us were obviously confused but also boiling in anger.

"You're a weirdo just like her! Oh my god!" Her shrill voice yelled then threw a rock. I felt a hand grabbed mine and then we took off running.

I didn't know who he is but just to get away from those three, I followed him. My legs were hurting already but I really need to get away.

The man led me through the streets of busy old London until we stopped in front of an Italian restaurant. We were both panting and sweating. I supported myself on a wall. My back is hurting because of my bag.

"They're gone," he said, looking around the area. I nodded at him.

"Thank you mister," I breath out.

"Were all my assumptions correct?" He d.

"Excuse me?" I furrowed my brows.

"The things I deduced on them, were they all correct?"

"Yes." I smiled. "I reported them multiple times but they just found today I was the culprit. They were all surprised since I only have one class with one of them. I'm pretty sure they don't even know my name but I know what they do."

"You're quiet the observer then, aren't you?"

I nodded again. "Yes, that's what get me into trouble most of the time. Being nosy apparently," I stated.

"I don't think of it as 'being nosy,'" he says, "it's a process of acquiring information, and information could bring trouble."

So I guess we have a huge similarity then.

Next thing I knew, we were chatting about our observing skills while walking to my house. I learned that he works at a hospital's science lab, sometimes he helps the police with their detective cases. He calls that job "Consulting Detective". I'm pretty sure he invented that job since I've never heard of it before.

It was nice talking to him. Now I know why people tell me to piss off and stop being a know-it-all. It's like talking to another version of me. It's rather comforting to be honest. He gave me some tips to help with me with deducting a person.

"Well, this is my stop." I stood in front of my house. "It's very nice meeting you, Mr. Holmes, and thanks for the tips by the way."

"You've got potential, Lillian." We shook hands then he left.

I watched as another one of my heroes left with something I could remember them for. I walked to my house and greeted Mum who was cooking another gourmet kind of food.

We ate dinner without Dad. He won't be home in another two hours and thirty minutes. I did my homework and after that, I checked up Sherlock Holmes on the internet.

He has a site called "Science of Deduction". Oh great. I could get in touch with him when I need more tips.

I took my notebook from a drawer and turned the pages until I came to my last entry. I started writing.
