Lillian's POV

Bullet and I shared a peaceful lunch. We spent the day watching movies, occasionally checking the news in case they report about missing people, there was a missing female nurse and that is all. I inspected every room again, Sherlock might've missed something-though I doubt that-or something appeared.

Before the sun went down, I triple checked all doors, windows, and other ways of getting in are locked. I took a gun and a knife with me to bed. It's not safe to encounter a psychopath who writes on pancakes in the middle of the night. Bullet slept beside me, acting as my bodyguard like he had always been.

I had to keep myself from going to a heavy sleep; the sound of silence kept me awake. Seeing nothing in the dark, except for the light coming from a nearby street lamp, drifted my mind away from reality.

It was in the middle of the night that I have been woken up by a nightmare. Some man has been chasing me in a dark narrow hallway. He was yelling. A woman was shouting. I always have bad dreams when going to new places.

My small feet carried me to my father's office where a streak of light is produced from the slightly opened door. There were three voices inside. Two men and a woman.

With my small hand, the door made a creaking sound as I opened it. My vision was still blurred from my tears but I can see my parents talking to someone.

"Mommy?" I called.

My parents turned to me, the other guy did not.

"David, take Lillian to bed while I finish business here." I heard the authority in Mum's voice.

Dad nodded, he approached me and took my hand. He made me sit on the bed and wiped my tears.

"Why were you crying?" He asked.

"I had a bad dream."

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

"It's scary," I muttered. "Who were you talking to?"

"It's just a friend." He gave me a stuff toy and I lied on bed.

"Whisky is now beside you. She'll take care of you and fight off the bad dreams. If she can't, pray to Papa God."

But he doesn't believe in God. I know because he did bad things and didn't regret any of it. He and Mum do lots of bad things.

He kissed my head as I closed my eyes. I heard him close the door but didn't walk away.

"She's asleep?"

"Yes."

"My, my. I never knew my best agent could also be a great parent. You're doing your job real good."

"Thanks. Now about the Lewisham Gang activities..."

There was someone who entered the house using keys. Bullet immediately ran to the door, growling. I picked up my gun and put on the sling bag with my stuff. If things go the other way, I must escape.

Bullet wants to go out, the man is just outside. I could open the door, let Bullet attack the trespasser, and call Sherlock or the police. I would not open the door and let the night pass with a bad person with me in my house.

But they have keys. How could they have keys to the house?

Bullet stopped growling and started sniffing at the bottom of the door. He barks once. He knows the person on the other side.

I lowered my gun and started making observations, deductions and a plan.

There was no light outside therefore I could not see their shadow. They are quiet, waiting for me to make my move. Since Bullet stopped growling, they know the dog knows, meaning I should know too. If those were my parents, they would tell me immediately. But they don't, it's a stranger on the other side, a stranger Bullet should not know.
