LDP

A big suitcase packed and still angry, I went to LDP. We arrived there at 9:15 and waited in line for check in at 9:30. Just being there, waiting, made me annoyed. Slowly the line started to move toward the front as the leaders checked people in. Then sooner than I thought, we were at the front of the line.

"Hi, who are you checking in?" A taller girl with blonde wavey hair asked my mom.

"Melody Song Nickel," my mom replied.

"Oh ok, perfect! I'm Taylor. I'll be one of your LDP leaders. You can follow Jessalyn over there and she'll show you were to go," Taylor says to me. I don't look at her in the eyes but nod politely. I walk toward Jessalyn who is waiting over by the door.

"Hi I'm Jessalyn! What's your name?"

 "Melody," I reply quickly.

"Ok Melody, we are going to go and find you a room and settle you in," Jessalyn said cheerfully.

"Ok," I replied. I wanted to run and hide so badly. I hated it there already. I picked a room and find a bunkbed close to the corner of the room and took the top bunk. That way I had more privacy. I put my stuff in a corner and went to say goodbye to my parents. I hugged them and we exchanged goodbyes. I watched them drive away and felt this overwhelming sense of loneliness.

"Hey Melody, you there?" Jessalyn asked.

"Oh yeah," I said quickly coming back to reality.

"We're all meeting in the living room downstairs for some camp rules and stuff," Jessalyn said.

"Ok, I'll be there soon," I answered.

"Ok, I'll see you in a bit then," Jessalyn said as she turned to walk into shalom.

"I'm not staying here for two weeks. I'm going to get away as soon as I can," I whispered to myself as I walked inside shalom.
