Chapter 4: Everest’s POV

Around 6 later that night I returned home and I was already exhausted out of my mind. Even though I wanted to fall asleep wherever I stood I told my parents about my day and they seemed very enthusiastic about my fast growth of friends. After they dismissed me I went upstairs, I showered, and I passed out.

The next morning I woke up, refreshed and ready to text Andy and see if he was busy or not. “Finally you’re awake.” I heard a familiar, deep voice say. I sat up with a jolt, seeing Andy staring at me with a grin, fully dressed, and ready to go. “Your aunt let me up here.” He shrugged.

“Well that’s not creepy.” I rolled my eyes. I got out of bed and I smiled that I am thankfully one of those girls who sleeps in an old t-shirt and pajama pants. I know a few girls just sleep in a bra and panties but that’s just not my thing.

“Anyways. Get dressed were going to do something. I don’t know if you want to head to the brides house but it’s kind of messy and its morning and there usually tired. Also it’s a house with 5 guys living in there. Julia and Kaitlyn never step foot in our house.” He chuckled.

“I wouldn’t mind visiting it and seeing what all the fuss is about.” I said to him, picking out a Metallica shirt and acid washed skinny jeans. He nodded in agreement. “Stay here, I don’t need to shower, I took one last night.” I said and he nodded as I grabbed a few other essentials from my dresser drawer.

I quickly got dressed into my clothes in my bathroom and when I was finished I opened the door so Andy knew he could walk in while I did my makeup. He walked in as he watched me put on a layer of foundation. “You look good without makeup.” Andy frowned.

“Oh shut up I do not.” I rolled my eyes, closing the bottle and grabbing my stick of concealer. I rubbed it under my eyes till I looked more awake.

“Whatever, I’m straightening your hair. I know it’s surprising. A guy knows how a straightener works.” He rolled his eyes back as he messed around with the ends of his straight hair. I giggled as he grabbed it and started to run it over my hair.

I put on eyeliner and I was done for the most part. Andy finished with the straightener and he turned it off. I quickly made it a bit bigger on the top and I was done. I put on a necklace and my hoodie that was hanging off a hook and we exited the bathroom.

“Let’s go.” I smiled. He nodded as he left the room and I followed behind him. We walked downstairs and I saw my little 11 year old cousin painting her nails at the dinner table. Hot pink. I cringed my nose but I knew I had to say hello. She just came home from her grandparents. “Stay here.” I sighed and he nodded.

I walked over to the dining table. “Hey May.” I smiled at her. She looked up. She looked made.

                Uh oh.

“What do you want? Ever sense you’ve come here you’ve been the big talk in this house. Go back to your real mom and stop stealing mine. It probably sucks that your mom doesn’t care about you but mine does and I don’t want you here, stealing my mom! You go it?” She snapped turning away.

I felt like crying. I turned to Andy who looked like he wanted to strangle the girl. I just wanted to cry. It wasn’t my fault I had shitty parents. I walked over slowly, my sweat shirt sleeves covering my eyes.

Andy wrapped his arm around me and we walked outside. He sat down on the front porch step and I sat next to him. “You didn’t deserve that.” He whispered. “So many people have treated you like shit your entire life and you don’t need it now.” He said to me, taking one of my hands.

I shook my head, I felt steaming wet tears stroll down my face but Andy wiped them away. He wrapped his arms around me and I cried into his sweatshirt. I hated this. I hated how wherever I went someone had to dislike me for reasons to benefit myself. It’s not my fault that I was offered a better life, with better people, better friends. I wish she could just accept me as family.

“Let’s go to my house, you can stay there for the night and I’ll call Isabella. Alright?” He said to me and I nodded slowly. He picked me up and we walked down the street till I saw a small white house, it was tall, it had a small white porch with a large white swing, a large tree with flowers surrounding it, and a big van in the driveway.

We walked in and everyone was on the couch in the living room. “Hey Everest!” Ashley said and then he stopped. “Hey what’s wrong?” He asked me. I just shook my head and I tried not to talk before tears could come out again.

“I’ll tell them.” Andy whispered in my ear and I nodded. He pulled everyone into the kitchen for a few minutes. I was sitting in a lazy boy chair, waiting for the five to come back. They soon returned and CC ran over and gave me a hug.

“Everest don’t let her get up on you. You’re much stronger than that.” Jinxx told me.

“Let’s go find Julia and Kaitlyn, there probably at their house across the street. They’ll cheer you up.” Andy said and I nodded. We said goodbye to the boys and we left the house. Their house wasn’t too bad actually. I mean it wasn’t like amazing but it wasn’t unlivable.

I looked at Andy as we crossed the road. I was really liking him. He was so loving and caring to everyone. I knew he only did this because he wanted to build a strong friendship but it also gave me mixed feelings that I knew he would never feel the same about.

                And that really killed me.
