Chapter 20: Kaitlyn’s POV
I had been in my room, unknown where Ashley was. I was holding a cup of Hot Chocolate in between my hands as I nervously tapped the sides with the palms of my fingertips. I was petrified to know what Ashley was doing to Danny.
Believe me- I would love for him to be knocked out in the snow. But that’s technically illegal and I don’t need Ashley in jail. I sat my cup on the night stand and I grabbed my laptop from under my bed. I only prayed that Morgan was still online.
Logging in, I smiled as I saw her name glow on the online list. I clicked her name quickly and I entered a chatroom. Of course, her screen name was Poptart. Mine was Simba. We all have nicknames. Julia has one as well, Panders. The name makes her smile but the story behind it now breaks her heart in half.
((A/N: Unfortunately... </3))
I’ve heard Andy call Everest Snowbells from time to time but I have no clue where that name came from. I placed my hands on the keyboard before thinking of something to say.
K: Hey.
M: Hey How are You Simba? Haven’t heard from you in a while.
K: Stuff with Danny
M: Danny? Simba I’ll come over to your place and see if Danny will leave you alone.
K: its fine don’t worry Poptart. Ashley has it.
M: Ashley?!
K: Long Story…
M: Figured.
K: Why did you figure it was long?!
M: Kaitlyn… it’s about two boys! When do you plan on meeting up?
K: Tomorrow… Everyone will be out. We can meet up at the café. May I bring Everest and Julia with? I need to have Everest kept away from Andy while he’s ring shopping ;) And Julia will feel left out.
M: Fine by me and I remember you talking about Everest and Andy! Ohh Andy’s popping the question?
K: Yup c: I know everything and Everest seems to not suspect a thing!
M: Romance it a beautiful thing- I have to go, it’s really late. See you tomorrow.
K: Bye.
I closed my laptop and I threw it under my bed. I fell down onto my pillow. I looked at the ceiling that I could barely see from the midnight darkness. All I could make out was the light from my window that was coming from the street lights.
And on that street I didn’t see Ashley and I didn’t see Danny. I couldn’t help but he terrified at what Ashley was doing. He was running Danny out of the house the last time I saw him. I couldn’t help but want to hide under my blanket.
Oh God…
Ashley’s POV:
“You need to stop coming Danny.” I bellowed for the final time as I grabbed him by his neck. I didn’t kill him. Badly beaten though. Hopefully he doesn’t go to the police. I really don’t see him doing that though.
I walked out of the woods on the side of the highway near our place. I started to walk innocently on the side of the highway till I saw the brick building which everyone lived in. I could see the lights from my bedroom where Kaitlyn was off. Probably asleep.
I hope she was asleep the entire time.
Likely not.
I walked up the stairs to the front door. I opened it quietly as it creaked loudly. I shut it as I tip toed to my bedroom. Opened the door slowly as I heard a small whine from the door as it opened. Shutting it, I stripped down to my boxers. I took a look at my hands.
Scratched up.
I walked towards the bathroom in our room and I took out the first aid. I wrapped up my knuckles to keep them from getting worse or infected. I sighed as I ran a sore hand through my hair. I walked to my bed where I saw Kaitlyn, hopefully asleep. She might be faking.
I slid under the covers and tried my best to sleep but I didn’t know if Danny went to the police or if he ever got up. What if Kaitlyn wanted him back? What if he was hurt and no one ever saw him again? I knew Kaitlyn probably didn’t want him but he question laid about Ben.
I don’t know he can kind of sing.
Replacement?
I shouldn’t be thinking like this about a once friend of mind. So I slept off the worry till morning. Just think about the bright side… just think about the bright side.
Is there a bright side?
Andy’s POV
“What type of ring are you looking for?” Ashley asked me the next day. I frowned as I looked at the different displays of rings. I didn’t know what I was looking for but I knew I would find something. I shrugged and Ashley chuckled. “Very descriptive.” He said sarcastically.
“Stop your sarcastic comments I don’t know what ring I want to get her.” I furrowed my brows. My eyes glanced to a diamond ring that was glowing in the store light like it was the Holy Grail. This was the ring.
I knew Everest hated anything flashy because she liked to call anything flashy something that belonged in a ‘Barbie doll play set’ and I had to agree. This ring was gorgeous and I knew Everest wouldn’t dislike it as I already knew it wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb on her ring finger.
“Ashley.” He turned his head and saw what I was looking at. “This is the ring.” I poked at the glass. Ashley took a look himself and he smiled. “Sir?” I called a what-seemed-to-be a friendly employee. He smiled as he walked over to me. “I need to purchase this ring.” I told him.
“Size?” He asked.
“7.” I told him. I looked up sizes and this one seemed the most like Everest’s finger.
“I’ll get it ready for you.” The jeweler said and I nodded a thank you as I headed back. I turned my head towards Ashley and he smiled at me.
“How do you plan to pop the question?” He asked me.
“Only the best way possible.”
