Chapter 12: Everest’s POV

2:00Am. Crap. I was wide awake in bed and Andy was dead asleep from what I could tell. I hadn’t been able to sleep for two nights in a row and my eyes were starting to go blood shot. I literally had no idea why. I was exhausted but I just couldn’t shut myself down.

Slipping out of bed without a problem, I went downstairs to find something to get myself. Milk, medicine, anything at this point. When I reached the bottom step I saw Kaitlyn in the kitchen, grabbing something from the cupboard. I hadn’t seen her in a while. “Hey.” She waved.

“Hey, why are you up?” I asked, heading to the nearby medicine cabinet and pulling out the Nyquil. I poured myself a caps full and I drank it.

“Could say the same for you but I believe that has been answered.” She said, eyeing the Nyquil and I nodded. Her copper orange hair was in a bun and she was definitely in one of Ashley’s shirts but I didn’t say a thing. “How are things going here? You just moved.” She noted.

                “So did you.” I grin.

“I still need to grab my stuff with Julia at noon.” She chuckled.

“I could help you.” I offered but she shook her head.

“No it’s fine, it’s not too much stuff. Don’t YOU still have some moving to do?” She arched an eyebrow at me and I nodded with a chuckle.

“So I am guessing you’re going to be in Ashley’s room now?” I nodded at the partially open door where I could see Ashley’s sleeping figure and a dent in the made bed sheets where I knew she was laying earlier. She nodded.

“So how are things going with you and Andy?” She asked me. “I’ve noticed your making him really happy. He was always a happy guy but I think he was also a bit lonely.” Kaitlyn noted, opening a water bottle and taking a sip.

“I’m only doing what I do.” I shrugged with a laugh. “I really don’t want to go to class tomorrow.” I said tiredly, sitting on the counter. Kaitlyn shook her head with me. “I’m tired, I’m probably going to just not go today and see how things unfold tomorrow.” I shrugged and Kaitlyn nodded in agreement. Then we parted ways.

I went upstairs and I walked back into the bedroom where I saw that Andy was still asleep. I slid next to him and I sighed as I closed my eyes one last time and tried to make myself sleep. And I did. For god knows how long.

The next morning I woke up to someone lightly shaking my shoulder. It was Andy. “What’s up?” I looked at him. He flopped next to me on the comforter.

“You’re late for school.” He said simply. He was fully clothed.

“I decided to skip today.” I shrugged.

                “Why?” He asked me, confused.

“I was tired, I had to take medicine last night so I just didn’t think I would have energy.” I shrugged. He nodded as he kissed me my head and quietly exited the room. Now that I could sleep, I was very curious Ashley and Kaitlyn were doing.

Kaitlyn’s POV:

“I’m going to beat you!” I giggled as I steered the PS3 control as it fed up to my gaming system. Mario Kart. I giggled as I saw that Bowser, Ashley, appeared to be in 4th place. While me, Yoshi, was in a sold 3rd place. 3rd lap.

“It’s quite obvious that I’M going to win.” Ashley raised an eyebrow as he got a prize cube, boosting his speed. I grabbed one as well as we continued to race around the track. I zipped past another contestant on the track, flowing in 2nd as Ashley grabbed 3rd from me.

I zipped past the finish line as Yoshi happily danced in his kart. Bowser flew by and made Bronze, dancing as well. I gave him a high fived as I laid on the controller on the bed. He tackled me onto the bed as he tickled my side.

                Ah hyper mornings.

“H-Hey don’t do that!” I said, trying to talking through the heavy bits of laughter. He finally stopped so I could catch a breath. I pretended to stroke an imaginary beard, an idea popped in my head, making me snap my fingers.

I grabbed my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles blanket and I threw it over him. “Hey I can’t see!” He pouted playfully.

“Really? I thought you could.” I said sarcastically as I rolled my eyes, although he couldn’t see that. “Were playing hide and seek. No peeking!” I warned him.

“That seems pretty hard to peek with this on.” He shrugged under the blanket. I tip toed and I slid under the bed, not a bump or noise to be made. I grabbed my cellphone and I texted him: I’m ready. I knew if I said it he would find me instantly.

I heard the blanket being pulled off. He hopped off the bed and I saw his feet walk around the shag carpeting. I held in my laughter with my BVB hoodie sleeves. “Where is she…?” He muttered. I felt a giggle escape. His footsteps stopped.

He started to walk to bed and crouched down, pulling me out with my arms. “Hey!” I giggled as he scooped me up. “I couldn’t help laughing!” I defended. He grinned at me. “You’re going to do something evil I know it.” I frowned, crossing my arms.

“Maybe…” He trailed off, setting me down, and then grabbing my black eyeliner pencil off the dresser. He sat crisscross on the bed across from me and he uncapped the pencil. He started to draw on my face. I felt movement on my nose, cheeks, and around my eye.

“What are you doing?” I asked him, he put a finger to his lips as he grabbed something from his nightstand drawer. Hello Kitty ears. Not surprised in the slightest. He placed in my hair and he pointed towards a wall mirror.

“Look.” He grinned. I turned my head and I grinned at my reflection. I had cat whistlers and I had a little eye piece drawn around my eye. “Kitty!” He said happily. I giggled as I gave him a hug. “Your new nickname is K.K.” He grinned.

“What does that stand for?” I raised an eyebrow with a smirk.

“Kaitlyn Kitty.” He chuckled. I laughed as I flopped next to him on the bed. “I already think of you as one of best friends.” He said to me.

“Me to Ashy Pants.” I said as he chuckled at the new nickname I gave him.
